Is this true?

Recently my dad went to Pep Boys and while he was there he asked about putting my Firebird away for the winter. The man he talked to told him not to put it up on jack stands because Firebird/Camaro frames are known to sag. Is this true? Then he went on to say to put wood under the tires instead to keep the frame from sagging, but wouldnt this still ruin the tires? (Point here being to keep the tires fresh) Whats the right thing to do?

Yes wood would still ruin the tires although if it was a soft wood it would be less like to cause flat spots cause wood has more play that concrete. But the man your Dad talked to is a idiot. when you put a F-body on jack stands you use the rear end housing and front engine center member. You don't put the stands on the frame rails(ANY CARS FRAME WOULD SAG IF YOU LEFT 1.75 TONS OF PRESSURE ON IT FOR A EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME).

mine was on blocks from 1994-2001,it wasnt streetable because it has no emissions.i sat it on bare blocks with no wood or nothing.It didnt hurt it at all,the alignment was perfect with a new set of tires.What kills your sub-frames is launching rail road tracks,and jumping curbs and plowing into other cars.get some tires with milage warrenty,and if they mess up,make them put some new ones on it.pep boys just replaced a set of mine cause they went bald before the warrenty said they should.
