Matiz woes

I have a three year old daewoo matiz and am paying the price of missing the three year warrenty. I have just replaced one of the fuel injectors but the dealers computer diagnostics have also shown that my EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve needs replacing. I took this with a pinch of salt as I think that all it probably needs a good clean. I took it to my local garage for a soak and a scrub.

the garage could not get it out to clean, saying that the bolt was very stiff. He was scared of it shearing the bolt causing big problems in my engine (because of where it is positioned near the cylinders or something). Has any body else had a prolem with their EGR (exhaust recirculation) valve?

I begrudge messing with this valve if there is any possibility of the bolt shearing. What will happen if I leave it and hope it goes away?

I have got hime to clean it from the outside through the outlet slots whch may hopefully delay the enevitable but I am concerned for my car (and my wallet!). Any body got some good news for me?
