Hi my car is a 96' dodge stratus es and I am curious about whether anyone has replaced their headlight lenses due to cloudyness. I am having this problem and i saw a product online that says it will clean the lenses off instead does this sound like a scam or will it work ? If not where can i get a good prices for these lenses.

I have a couple of chrysler products. A 1997 Dodge Stratus and a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. In both cases the headlights were becoming hazy. I believe that this is due to the type of plastic they are made of. I got some very fine wet and dry sandpaper (2000 grit) that is used for final finishing in bodyshops and sanded the hazy plastic. I used plenty of water and in about 5 minutes per headlight, they were about 90% as good as new!

Note: On my first try I used a more coarse wet/dry sandpaper (I think it was 500 grit) and this made the plastic very scratched and white. So... use the very finest sandpaper you can get e.g. 2000 grit.

I just bought a 1997 Stratus that did not come with owners manual. So, Im sorry if I may sound dumb but I have to ask you a question if you don't mind it please: The method you suggested was awesome and I appreciate your tip but I don't know how you were able to sand the plastic cover from inside. I mean I tried to take the plastic cover off but then I was told that it does not come apart i have to replace the whole headlight. I don't know anything about american cars so im just so confused. How were you able to send it from inside to make it look good again? My stratus' headlights are cloudy & yellow filmy and its a joke. You did explained it so well that i should have no questions but since i couldn't get the plastic cover off and there is no space from inside to put my hands on the cover, im so confused on how you sanded it. :banghead:
I'd appreciate it so much if you could answer me. Thank you!
(out of curiosity i called the dealership and they wanted $350/HL.....funny...)

You usually do not need to get them from the inside. However, if you do, go to the local hardware store and get a cheap thick dowel and affix the sand paper to the end of it. It is slow going, but with about 15 minutes a peice you will notice the difference. Just be sure to use water so you dont risk ruining the finished product and let them dry before installing them.
