Expected HP and 0-60 with these mods....

Hi im new to the forums, I recently traded a friend my 98 GT for his 97 GTP that he had just sitting around (LONG STORY). Anyways, he has a PulleyBoyz 3.4 inch pulley on the S/C. He took out the U-Bend and the Resonator, and he says it has a CAI(I dont have car yet) Im not sure if it is an actual CAI system or just an aftermarket open cone pipe. Can someone give me a rough estimate to what my HP is gunna be as well as my 0-60 times. I know that a Wizzaired or Thrasher CAI would make a hell of a lot of difference then just replacing the stock airbox with an open cone, but i dont know which it actually has, so work with me here :)

w/ a 3.4 and cai my guess would be around 220 hp or less at the wheel

yeah, but my problem is, i look at everyones long list of mods and i add that shit up, thousands of dollars we are talking here. Im a young buck and in college now, i have prolly 500-700$ to toss into engine mods of the 97 GTP im getting, BTW, it is coming with a 3.4 pulley, 9inch, open cone, u-bend and resonator taken out.. So atleast i got a lil start. Im juss confused on what is gunna get me the most for that price... weather there is one big thing i should get like a 700$ exhaust or like a few lil things....

i'd go for a set of mufflers and an intense pcm (the latter is on sale right now for only $99!) those are the two things i'm thinkin about doin next...

but is that what i will get maximum power with... mufflers..... dont those only give you like 10-15 hp and are expensive as hell??? and yeah taht is cheap compared to the DHP

yea mufflers wont really free up that much hp thats just the rout i'm goin...my local mufflershop told me it would only be $300 to put a pair of flowmasters on..i want to have the u-bend deleate and the resonator removed and maybe a larger down pipe so that will cost me more but sine you already have the u-bend and resonator removed you'd only really need the mufflers...for max performence for you buck tho you might look at rocker arms..if you want to put a cam in eventually tho you must be careful what ratio you get.

im not a car freak, so what exactly would rocker arms do. i have looked at them but really dont know the physics of what they do.???

no problem. if your going to get the muffler and let a shop make your system then jus make sure you get some stainless tips at least. hate getting those $hitty tips from those muffler shops always start rusting a couple months later.

it's called "sweet" not cute :disappoin . "cute" is what the girls call those Volkswagon cabriolet convertibles. "sweet" is when you have a nice exhaust with some chrome to show it off and "holy sweetness" is when you have flames coming out of those tips. :grinyes:

gettin oil changed at 3k mark this weekend. change oil light is still comin on for a min then going off. runs fine tho. read it could be the oil pump, not too happy bout that. i'd change it myself but i'm much too busy. be happy you're married. you only have 1 woman to satisfy.

Sounds like an oil pump could do it. Pain in the butt., and not cheap to have someone else do it.

i have dilemma, my 98 GT im trading to a friend has my new 6X9 speakers in it, i have no idea how to get them out and i trade with him tomorrow, any suggestions

If you have your old ones, tell him that you want your new ones back and give him them. Or take it to a sound shop, they shouldn't charge much just to swap a pair.

I'm sure someone else will have better suggestions

yeah thats what i would do, except its 1 am now, and im trading cars with him tomorrow morning, i have to do it myself... i hear you have to take backseats and shit out and i have old ones and he said he doesn't even care if the old ones are intalled cuz hes selling my GT im trading to him and he will install them, so i have a couple hours tomorrow morning when i wake up to take them out :( i have to clean out car and a bunch of other shit to. i really wanna get these speakers out since i just put them in a few months ago.

the rear seats aren't too tough to get out you just have to pull the tabs under the lower seat portion then ratchet off the bolts holding the back and seatbelts down. lift up and pull off...check out these removal instructions:

thanks, i got em off, ends up my buddy got called into work thank god, so im getting car in a couple hours hopefully around 6 PM EST...the anxiety is killing me, any signs of trouble i should look for when i drive the GTP im getting from him??? should i change supercharger oil and how often does the SC oil need changing, how do i tell if ball joints are bad or suspension or anything is about to lose it...
