installing cap

hi guys
i want to install a cap in my car but i dont know how it has the + the - and the remote i thinks that its not much of a problem but i have two amps do i have to wire it after o before the amps fuses?? i have a fuse for each amp and does the cap needs a fuse and where do i put it and how big does it has to be and one more thing ive heard i have to charge it first with a resistor how do i do that if i really have to do it??

and another thing may i put the cap for both amps?? or just one?

i might as well be the first to tell you that i dont think anybody in this forum will ever suggest a cap. most people will say it is just putting more strain on your alternator, so its making issues worse. the only thing it may do for you is help provide a constant power supply to your amp. but this is questionable.

My friend got one cause he had a weak alternator and it sounded great the first time the subs hit and then after that the subs hit just as they did before, so it basically did nothing. he could turn his music up a littl ebit louder than before before his voltage guage would bottom out, but the difference wasnt worth the moeny.

you want the cap to be between the amp and the fuse. Do NOT use a cap with a voltmeter on the top, the typical ESL of the circuitry will render the cap useless. Since the cap is wired up into the + wire from the battery, it will by it's nature, be helping both amps. But remember, a cap is for transients (real music) .... it won't help your bass system play any louder, that's not it's purpose.

Caps are equivilet to a ver yexpensive very small extra batery wired in parallel with your original batery. for their price it is better to jsut upgrade your battery. however. it is sapposed to be wired post fuse.
