Check this .. never knew a G20 existed ... - Canada

Hey gang,

I come from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

I've never heard of the G20 in my life. I've been all over Canada, and many
car shows.

I sold my Cavalier 2.4 Speedcraft/Chassiscraft Stage III turbocharger monster
a while ago, and I was searching for a new project car.

So, I am driving down the street .. I see a red car, 4 door, live I've never
seen at a Nissan dealer. I was with my friend, who in which works with
me as a hobby/part-time at a mod shop, and we install DSM turbos/superchargers
performance for DSM/Eclipses/Imports. We know our shit and our cars, but
we have never seen or heard of the G20 before. Nobody around here has!

So, I checked out the car, touring edition 1999, nice red, side skirts, spoiler, fog
lights, only 30,000KM, mint condition.

Pimp'in leather seats, 6 cd changer, this car was hot. I thought it was a new
model of Nissan, so I go see the dealer, he told me about the 1999 Infiniti G20T.

I was like, wow, I've never seen this car on the road in my life. This car does not
exist in Canada hardly.

Everyone in Ottawa that I know, who is at the track, mod scene, works at mod shops has never heard of the G20 and aftermarket support, since nobody owns one.

So anyways, I was suprised, a car in Canada that I was not aware of, how interesting.
So, I bought it :D :D :D

I feel in love with this car after the test drive, and checking out internet specs, and then
I seen the Erebuni kit, and I loved it.

So, then I researched aftermarket, and stumbled upon this message board and it seems
like the G20 is famous here.

Any G20 owners from Canada here? This is unreal, I drive my car and everyone stares at me, everyone is asking me where the hell I got my car. People think it's imported directly from Nissan/Japan. Nobody knows what my car is ...... what the. . I am driving a ghost car or what.

The G20 is awesome, I love this car and would not trade it for a 1999 Eclipse GS in which I had my eye on.

This G20 has caught my eye like no other car, I finally found `my' car, I have nothing bad to say about this beaut.

Please, if there are Canadians here.... email or private message me .. am I the only person across the US boarder who feels this way?

I swear, I've been to many car shows around Canada, I've installed turbos, performance parts, and worked in my dad's business which is Mister Muffler, well known mechanics shop, and now that I am 20 years old, I can honestly say I have NEVER heard of the G20, and never seen it.

Please somebody tell me I am not dreaming.

Props

Welcome, and yes P10/P11 are worshiped here. WhodaThunkIt, a small agile-handling family car with fire-breathing potential.....
just do us a favor and don't let the secret get out.;)

Welcome to the forum.

Quite a few acutally. Most of us seem to be in and around the Toronto area, so I'm moving out to Vancouver to even out the distribution. :)

Welcome to the fold. Nice to see someone as excited about their G as the rest of us here. Read some of the older posts and you'll learn a tonne about this car. Do some research first before you ask us what the best suspension is because it's be done to death a number of times here already.

Glad to be here.

This secret is safe with me, and myself only. I don't want people duplicating my car with over excessive stickers, neon lights, and Type R badges on a G20T :D

I just can't wait for the car shows this summer, just the feedback I'd get from people.
Credits go to G20 and Nissan, not me of course.

Also, credits go to this board for all the information I get.

I've did my homework better this time, and checked the swaps for the G20.
Very impressive.

Blue Bird SR20DET/Pulsar

http://unstable-hybrids.com

Seems like a descent place to order engines, I've spoke with them directly.

I'll shave the badges on my car, and not tell anyone. My insurance company
was a little confused at first, it was funny to see :)

Also, where can I get info on aftermarket for the stock G20T engine?

Pistons, cams, cylinder heads, valve springs, etc....

How is the aftermarket for stock G20 engines?

Any info appreciated.

I work part-time at a car mod shop in Ottawa, and I've been at my dad' mechanic
shop since I was a kid :)

But I never had fun with a car like the G20, It's going to be a NICE summer.

Since I work in a car mod shop, all I need are part numbers and a phone #,
Only info I need here is hardcore internal mods for the engine, websites
where to check for info.

Suspension, wheels, springs ... it's all universal questions for sure, and
newbies in mods should go to a car mod shop for info and pricing.

I believe you get what you pay for.

I've always heard about Toronto having G20's because they are close to the US
boarder. And Eclipses are not sold in Canada, no mitsu dealers here, so Eclipses
are mostly imported from FLORIDA to TORONTO, and the only eclipseuato dealer
ship in all of Canada if in Toronto.

Eclipses are so overpriced here, it's not funny.

G20 Enthusiast now.
I love this informative forum, I got alot of helpful info, and I am reading
all the old posts, collecting as much information as possible.

All the ricers and modders want to race now when they pull up to a light
beside me. I have nothing to proove, but it's funny to watch people
challenge my car, because they don't know what's under the hood, ... and
well .. they don't even know what the car is hehe. It's fun to see people's
faces, and people pointing all the time. I love my car for it's performance
and looks. Nicest sedan around.

Ciao.

Read all you care to in the engine section. Goto the SE-R archives (http://www.se-r-list.org) and check out the mailing list and search on SR20DE pistons, etc. Everything you ever wanted to know is there. Basically it comes down to how much you want to spend and how fast you want to go. The sky (close to 500whp) is the limit with these motors.

HEHEHE, when people pull up next to you and stare, tell them it's a 6 cylinder, most of the time they'll believe you too! hahaha. I was messing with a friend one time and told them it had a inline 6 motor, when i opened the hood they just about fell over, after i took them for a ride in the car, they didn't believe it was only a 4 cylinder. hehehe, I like messing with my friends, it's fun. :D

SH!T!!!!!!

I wanted a p11 for the longest time. But University is killin' tha pockets. I hope you enjoy your investment. There are not alot of Infiniti's out there. I honestly think that they are a rare species. I see alot more mercedes and bmw's and then the notorious played out honda growing like weeds. Anyhow it will soon be a collectors item in about 9months so take care of her and hang on tight. They are discontinuing our baby for an ugly AUTO 6cyl. beast. I sware to gawd as soon as the p11 price nose dives to 12K, Im in the drivers seat. By the way Im almost at 300K if you are wondering about reliability only thing the tranny on my car was shot a few months back, other than that MINT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing but praise for my 'Pocket Rocket':alien: :frog:

WELCOME BUDDY! I also have a 99g20t and have already contacted you via ICQ. I am just another Toronto g20. If you think telling people that you have 6 cylinders is a laugh then I wont mention how many times people think the t in g20t is for turbo. Yes we all enjoy our rare car but just 1 piece of advice.....KEEP IT CLEAN....RICE IS EVIL.

It's good to see some more enthousiasm north of the border for the G20. I drive an early model (P10) G down in T.O. Most of the Canadian G20 guys here it seems are in the Toronto area too. Speaking from experience, You'll see a few more tuned G's in Toronto in general. A G20 meet up here might actually be a pretty cool idea.

Sounds like it might be the start of a plan. I'll look into some locations when I get back from Van on the 17th. :D

Where in Van will you be moving to, J? I was there last week! It sure is a beautiful city with lots of beautiful girls!! The rainy, the depressing, the sad city when it overcasts but when there is sunshine....No other cities can top it!!! I suppose you ought got your by-pass valve for your CAI when you are out there, assuming that you have one.. :)

Well, we need to plan ahead so that the boys can mark this down on their calendars. Get atomic-G to do all the planning since he is not doing anything, anyway :D We can always pick a park somewhere like the park by Leslie and Lawrence or High Park or Christie pits, anywhere it doesn't have to be at someone's house, though it mostly preferred if someone home has a nice back yard.

I'll probably be getting a place in Burnaby. My g/f is trying to get into SFU and it would be closer if we lived in Buraby. :D

Winter season is pretty shitty with the rain but summer is usually pertty good. It gets overcast and crappy just about everywhere north of cali in the winter anyway. :(

About setting up a picnic I'd like to find a place that won't throw a fit if we toss up a couple bbq's and toss back a couple brews. ;)
