Hello,
Do you think my jimmy will tow a uhaul tralier w/ about 300lbs inside of it well? I've got a 96 jimmy without the tow package. It has a class III/IV Reese hitch pn 33021. I need to tow it about 380 miles. Will this be too rough on the tranny?

If you have a class III/IV Hitch already on your vehiocle than I would say no you will be fine. I don't have the tow package on my 92 S10 Blazer but have a class 2 hitch and have already towed 2000 lbs about 40 miles no problem. The only factor is hills can be rough if you can avoid them then do so. A class III/IV to my knowledge is rated at 5000 or 7500 pounds. So a 300 pound load on a uhaul trailer should be no problem. If you are doing highway driving though maybe you may not want to use your overdrive if you have an auto. Typically you are not supposed to tow at speeds over 55 I believe. I am not the most knowledgeable but this is what I understand.
