If you're going through the trouble of swapping, you might as well get a B16, DOHC Vtec for about $1200 for the engine.

he said SOHC....apparently he has plans of some sort or doesnt want to go through the hassles of making shift linkage and buying mounts, id say if u want to go SOHC then go d16z6 or d16y8....theres a lot of after market support for these motors and they dont mind a lil boost either.

to put it simply, any honda motor will fit. as for SOHC, any D-series will bolt right in w/ u'r stock mounts, and mate right to u'r existing tranny. as others recomended, the D16y8 will be a good canidate. however, as another said the D16A6 would prolly be u'r best bang for the buck, unless u find a sweet deal on a D16y8 setup. The D16A6 has damn near just as many aftermarket options as the D16Y8, so it's up to what u'r end goal is.
www.nippon-motors.com has D16A6 for like $395, then a ECU would be around $50 depending where u look. their D16Z6 (basicly a D16Y8) is running $650

SOHC ZC! It's not too expensive (around $350), you dont have to wire for vtec, and its almost a good as a DOHC ZC. Look at my sig.

Almost as good?
The DOHC can run 14 seconds with a good driver...
Your sig says you run 16 seconds. Even with a 14.9 vs your 16.1 thats more than a whole second.
Not to flame but.... the DOHC ZC is way better.

Easy and cheap:
d16a6 (108hp)
SOHC ZC (115hp)
Better but harder (more expensive):
d16z6 or y8 (125hp)
DOHC ZC (137hp)
d15b VTEC (not as good a z6, but cheap) (120hp)
Very hard (very expensive):
Any integra
b16
Dont Try:
d16a1
k-motors
H-motors

CRX VTEC TURBO

Go with the d16z6, they fit real nicely in the car..almost as if it was stock. plus, besides this, it is a good engine to buy parts for and to build off of....it might not produce as much power as your b16s and such, but it does good work for the sohc. the Y8 is rather similar to the z6, but in my efforts with a friend of mine I had trouble locating engines of that nature. the z6 is in all civic ex's or si's from 92-95 i believe.

There is no question that any d15 would fit, however they are not good candidates for the project car (horsepower and part availability). If you are simply looking for reliability, as with any honda motor, it would work.

You have a d15a in there now.
You can find a good newer 92-95 d15a7 for about $150 if you need just a new motor.
I was going to do that but decided to get something better with some more hp.
Same motor as you have, if you dont do the MPFI and use your DPFI you get the same hp.
Though you will have to mod your dizzy a bit

Why not try the K-series? (this is gonna be fun :lol2: )
K20a(from new integra type R)
custom intake/header/2.5 inch exaust
Hondata+EXTENSIVE tuning...
250 HP at the crank
Screw the H, I never liked it for some reason (sorry H guys :P )

what is the particular reason you want to go sohc?
i did a dohc zc swap in my crx and im very happy with it, i think the swap would be easier than a sohc vtec. the dohc zc is definitely worth the extra compared to the sohc, and no extra motor mounts some teg axles and youre good

With the DOHC ZC you will need some linkage too, I think. More money. And if you are in CALI then smog....
Yes VTEC is harder.
No extra mounts and can use existing tranny, axels.
And if you are going to rewire (going in a DX) for MPFI it is only 5 more wires to add for z6.
2 for VTEC and 3 for o2, no biggie if you have to do the 4 for MPFI.
Which you have to do for DOHC ZC.
The HP is about the same, 7hp loss is not that much...
K-motors are fine if you have the money.
$5000 for Motor or more?
Plus Tranny, ECU, axels?
Plus $1000 for mounts, Linkage and extras?
Out of most peoples budgets...
And I hear that there are extensive body mods to do...
Might as well do a LS/VTEC turbo for less and more HP

y not try a d16a1, because, if u ment the D15B7, then that's less power and torque than a D16A1/3. and the wiring would be no harder between the two.
i understand the H and K, lots'o work, money, and weight.

Doh!!! Got the a insted of the b....
Ok here it goes...
d16a1 is the 87-89 USDM Integra DOHC, it will not work without major mods.
Not worth the effort
Get a DOHC ZC, much easer, same specs
d16a6 is the 88-91 Si and is what will fit easy.
Just needs MPFI wires, 108hp 100f#
SOHC ZC same as above, but more HP
Better cam, pent & larger combustion chambers, Domed pistons
My Bad I ment D15B2 is what is in the DX now 92hp 89f#.
A D15B7 is 92-95 DX and is rated at 102hp 98f# with MPFI
This is about what you get when you MPFI a b2
But the b7 is MPFI and OBD1, so you will have to wire some.
If you dont want to and want to leave it obd0 and use the DPFI you can
It will make about the same hp as the d15b2
They are the same motors, almost.
You could also MPFI obd0 with the Si Dizzy and ECU
d15b VTEC is out of JDM spec 92-95
Easy to get not as good as the z6
You can get them for $400 complete.
Depending on who you believe it is 120-130hp
Here is a good site on the d15b VTEC:
