Everyday Driver.

How many people use their car as their sole transportation, I ask this because I do and ever since I have had the car if it's not one thing it's another, it seems like I can never cut a break. It's difficult to own a late model mustang without having another reliable car. Tomorrow I have to go to College in the mourning, I have to take the bus because the brakes went saturday. Anyone have the same ideas: "If it's not one thing it's another"

I have used fox-body Mustangs as my daily driver for 3 years. I don't any more cause I have just grown too old to fight with them in the snow so I now own a Ford truck too but they are my daily drivers 60% of the year. So having the second vehicle saves me from something is broke and I need to fix it now situation.
I never really have had too much issue, but it might because I'm realistic to the cars age and miles. Sure lil things break here and there like door locks, blow a radiator hose, etcc., but nothing that either can't be fixed quickly or can wait till the weekend. Over the course of a year or whateva I slowly transform the car back into a reliable daily driver with more hp than if I had buoght myself a couple year old cheapy car like a Kia or Honda etcc.., Hence I personally get more out of it in the end.
The bottom line is owning any car that is over 10 years old and usually 100,000 or more miles is a labor of love. 5-6 years ago I use to see tons of 87-93 5.0's now I only see a couple on the streets and more SN-95's(there is a reason). If you can't take it as a labor of love than you should probably go buy a few year old low mileage Honda/Hyundai/Kia or something. I'm not saying this to be mean or discourage you from the hobby and cars I love. I understand there can be major frustration but it's just part of the game.

Thx. I was really frustrated last night. Today I have a clear head and can be more logical about it.

I have always beleved in if you want to mod your car, you have to have a beater to drive around. Like my buddy in his TA, we put a spec clutch in his car and it came down to the wire. When I finally got it in and off the stands, we had about 30 sec to test drive it and then he had to go to work. Or what if you are showing off and something breaks? Or if you are like me and have a nice car (well body wise I need paint badd) but what to keep it out of the winter salt.
Who cares what the beater is. If people want to laugh, they can come see what is in your shop.
