Clearly the skyline was pulling on him, you could see it and hear it until the civic hit high revs. but I bet the civic was spraying, because there was no gradual rpm noise; it just shot up like crazy.

i just looked up what engines the r32 came with, looks like it couldve been rb20 powered...makes 214bhp(flywheel) according to http://www.rb20det.com/

either way, if you did everything you could to a civic motor and everything you could to a skyline motor, the skyline would win out (my opinion, but how many hooked up civics beat hooked up skylines daily seriously? rare occasion if u ask me). Still a cool vid, and those rpms jus go straight out the roof! Wish they had pics of the outside of the civic

Took a look at the Tach. looks like his shift light came on at 8200rpm, to me that would indicate a second gen b16 swap.Also you really can't hear vtec because his turbo spools so quick..Plus, i kno you guys heard his turbo spool massive.He's not squezzing, but boosting high i bet.And yea the skyline was gunning it.Half way in the vid u see the ef take it to redline as the skyline took off an for the good second of the duration it took for the ef owner to shift the skyline pulled.Until the honda hit that gear.

i was gonna say hes boosting...but i wasnt positive...u can hear the turbo spooling...but i wasnt sure if it was the skyline...and if u didnt notice...at the very end of the video maybe last 3 seconds...u can see a dash mounted gauge pod

skylines are not all that any car can be made fast some are easyer then others i think that they skyline in the video is trying and if u think about it dollar for dollar the civic could be way faster then the skyline with the same amount of money in both cars

nah, put 10 grand in a skyline and put 10 grand in a civic, the civic wont come out the fastest.

I think hes using the value of the car too. Look how much you would pay for a skyline. Take half of that and buy a civic and make it super quick for half the cost of the skyline.

Seriously, Yes thats an R32 they can pack a punch if they are tuned right. Apperantly it didnt sound like it was, as far as the Hatch goes man he was spraying(you can hear the whizz sound pretty clear). I also heard the sound of a turbo (spooling sound)? not really sure but it was awsome. I was left speachless awsome video tho

A win is a win, the skyline got spanked, and by the way just because its a GTR doesnt make it all special all, it has is awd. The GTS is just as fast if not faster bc it doesnt have the extra driveshaft and all that weight. And yeah that civic was revving pretty damn high.

the GTR has more then just awd, they have more power; the engine is 100cc larger then the GTSRB25's(which is 2.5L, there are others that are 2.0l), they have upgraded suspension, aero, HICAS steering, and various other tweaks. btw, the GTR, atleast the R34, has a advanced awd(ATTESSA) thats is normally RWD unless power is need to the fronts. now they do weigh more; stock, the GTS's weigh around 2700lbs, while the GTR's weigh around 3300lbs, but still the GTRs are faster. i think nissan did a really good job by building heavy cars that can turn just as well as lighter cars(including the newer skyline; infiniti q45). now in a tight track, like mountain racing, thats where the GTS will most likely be faster.

ok...who in their right minds would pay motorex a cool $80k + and then throw it away by doing something completely assinine such as wreck it on a city street trying to race a goddam civic? i say he's trying maybe 75%... i know i wouldnt be beating the shit out of a car like that...especially on public roads with concrete barriers.

you cant compare a civic to a skyline...simple as that. its like apples and oranges. even if the car wasnt a gtr or wasnt worked....the top speed of a skyline far exceeds that of a civic with stock gear ratios. end of story.

If you have enough money to Import a Skyline through Motorex maybe you have enough money to race and pay the concequences whether it be winning, fucking up your car, crashing, or getting a ticket.

skyline: none of you are really sure, but i'd like to point out the following.

he kept coming back, kept challenging. now, whther he wanted to race or whether he just wanted to see the civic go cuz he respects a fast car is up to you to decide.

but id put my money on this: he didnt care whther he won or lost that race. he's driving a (probably stock) skyline GTR. one of the most coveted cars in the world. the other guy is driving a civic, probably tuned pretty close to full tilt.

the skylines a better car, period. and he knows it.

Yeah you can get a skyline imported for less than half of that, I'v seen gtr's sale for around 32 grand.

just my two cents but if you take the vid at a slower bit rate you can see the tank in the back of the civic for the spray...

personally i would take a skyline to a civic anyday but for money purposes i have a civic. i enjoy my little car and do some racing because i know if i crashed i could easily replace parts or the whole car. i honestly dont think that skyline was pulling all too hard but it doesnt really matter.

i remember seeing an ad from motorex for some r32's starting at around 18g... but still though, id also take ANY skyline over any civic.

The skyline is just too expensive...not just to buy it, but the parts for it as well. I think the civic fits my budget real well :) Good on gas, and has lots of customization options and potential

I have to give the guy props.. Regardless of what he has, he's beating the skyline. Maybe it was a goal of his... He gets my two thumbs up. :D

i cant see the tank and i just watched it another 9 times. all i see is a shiny strut tower bar in a stripped rear interior
but i did noticed his limiter hits around 8200 - 8500 ish. and it sounds like a bad ass turbo. i cant hear him spraying, all i can hear is spooling. and maybe when hes spooling when he hammers it, his tires might be spinning hence him hitting limiter faster. just my theory

I would rather have an R34 Skyline over a Civic, even if the Civic was modified to be faster than it. Same thing with a Ferrari...sure you may be able to beat it, but its a Ferrari, enough said.

This guy I met at our local "LOT" has a corvette stingray and an rx8 with a veilside body kit was about to buy a skyline from this lady in japan for 11k, not sure what year but it was an r34 with like 6k miles. Her son died in a car accident with his friend and she just wanted to get rid of his car. I cant remember why he didnt get it, i think he said something about the situation getting messed up or something.

to me it doesnt look like the skyline is really going for it but that honda is nuts you just watch the tach and the needle just flys up

My tach needle goes up fast also when it is slippery outside and I give it too much gas...maybe thats what he was experiencing :iceslolan
