Hi. I have a 94 pick up 22 re motor 110,000 miles. It seems to be a cold start injector or sensor? I am realizing I dont know a lot about injection. Where would this one be? Any place to go and get a diagram? I want to make sure I get the right one and take it out and install it correctly.

When it is cold the first start is very difficult. I wind it for a while first then 2 or 3 more tries gets it running. No problems after that.

The cold-start injector is on the drivers side of the air intake chamber at the middle (front to back). The air intake chamber is above the intake manifold.

When the engine is cold, have someone crank the engine and see if you hear the injector clicking. It should click. You should hear no clicking when you crank it when the engine is hot.

Pull the electical connector off the injector and check the resistance. The resistance should be 2-4 ohms. Make sure the connector and injector contacts are clean and oil-free. Clean them if necessary. That could be your problem.

The cold start injector gets its signal from the time switch. Check the voltage of the signal in the cold start injector connector. When you crank it cold, the volt meter should bounce on a 12-v scale. When you crank it hot, there should be no signal.

If you can't figure out what's going on, the dealer can check it with some procedure I don't know about.
