Alirght first off, is the sunroof in the below pic stock? second question is it compleately removable and can it just tilt the rear? also, does this eliminate the center dome light and visors? now if this is stock could i just go to mitsubishi and order the glass panel and have a body shop cut it out for me? Did thease models have extra support bars? thanks guys

stock yes, can you just order the panel no. Dome light and visors are intact. its completely removable, but there is about a 3-4 inch lip under the glass that stays where its at, so the hole in the top isnt the size of the glass that is removed.

You could find a wrecked car and have a body shop cut the cop of it off and weld it to your car.

The roof assembly is completely different as talskinyguy stated. You cant just cut the roof of a non sunroof 3s and make the large removable sunroof as pictured fit. If you want that sunroof you would have to do the work of cutting out your roof and having that roof cut out of a donor car and put in place. I sold a complete roof assembly like that earlier this year to someone looking to do the same swap.

They were an option for all 3/s's in the years stated by talskinyguy. The one I sold came from a base Stealth.

Talskinyguy basically covered everything. I am just verifiying what he said is right. And BTW that roof assembly I sold I beleive is for sale again. The guy I sold it to had issues with his car and never go the swap completed. His name is KTMryan53 over on 3si. He may still have it up for sale.

so if I want to add a sunroof on my car, i'll have to go at the car dealer and ask them to add one on my car ? and I have to bring myself the sunroof kit

Most if not all dealership wont do that swap for you...and there is no 'kit'. As was said before you need an entire roof w/ sunroof chopped of a 3000gt that originally had one, and then take it to a body shop. They will chop your roof off and mount that other one on in it's place. This isn't exactly a cheap/ordinary swap that a dealership could do.

The roof of a non sun roof car can in no way possible be made to work with the factory style sunroof. They are 100% different. Its going to be a custom job no matter what. You need a roof from a sunroof car if you want a factory sunroof. ANd the dealer is not going to perform such a surgery on your body. Its something that will have to go to some kind of body shop if you yourself dont have the skills.

Mitsu actually didnt even install the factory sunroofs themselves. Once the cars were imported certain ones were designated as to have the sunroofs. Those cars were sent to a manufacture who swapped the roof assemblies. Same basic thing as the spyders. Once they came inland they were sent off to a seperate factory to have the "conversion" done.

As for T-tops, its going to be 100% custom so I would guess you are looking at $2000 or better to have something fabbed up.

It'd probably be better to just make it a spyder.

I dont even think the company that did the conversions even exists any more. Spyder parts are getting harder to find.

Making it a "spyder" cost mitsu around 15000 per car, and they had 1500 made, I doubt a one off is going to be anything close to that cost, double it if not more.

T-Tops would reqire a lot of work, but you can add a non factory sun roof for fairly cheep.
