rear drum to dic conversion

I got a 97 Accord se and im wondering if i can swap out my rear drums for discs? What parts do i need and from what car? Also, does ne1 know where i can get a carbon fiber front lip and type r grill?

i've only seen disc brake conversion kits for civics. i don't know how fessible (or advisable) it would be to just replace the drum parts with the disc parts...you can call your local honda dealership and ask them.

also, i thought a 97 se would come with rear discs??? isn't the se supposed to be one level higher than the ex (it does stand for special edition)?

this gut i know did it to his 4th gen accord. nice as hell!!! but from what ive heard hes had brake problems after he got it done

i plan on doing the rear disc conversion on my 89 accord. the 88-89 accord se-i's came stock with rear disc brakes and they will swap right onto my lx-i. one more reason to own a 3rd gen! :D

the SE model is 1/2 way from LX to EX...it comes with some EX options w/ LX parts. ie, ABS, sunroof, wooden dash...

you need whole new suspension parts cuz they go w/ the brake system; from a 97 EX model w/ rear discs. check your local junkyard & look; do the research. or get a performance shop to rip you off, i mean do it. it's a lotta labor & parts may be expensive to get.

can you say exactly what type of brake problems your friend had after converting his 4th gen. to rear disc?

easily done, just swap the rear suspension, e-brake cables, and make sure you use the proportioning valve from the disk-brake equipped car. Otherwise, it bolts up perfectly :).

IMO, converting to rear disc isnt worth it. It will cost money and it doesnt improve braking all that much. Just get some power slots for the front or brembo cross drilled and it will improve stopping the same as the conversion without the big money.

I agree with the above thread... it probably isn't worth it. I was considering doing it since I just had the entire hub/suspension assemble off this weekend while installing the Eibach Pro Kit. That was a mess, but luckily it happened on the last corner, or I would have quit. I broke the damper to knuckle bolt, broke off an easy out in the bolt and couldn't get it to budge... I had to take the entire thing off to have a friend's dad press it out. Anyway, back to the topic at hand... you also have to get a new master cylinder. If you find a junk car at a yard with discs on the rear just get the cylinder off of it.

I am just going to paint the drums and put slots on the front... yeah I know... the easy way out.

Odd that you say that because the write-up that I read did not even install the e-brake. I was wondering about that. If I can find the story I will post it on here. You do have a point

Ok.. how dumb of me... I just turned around and found the mag. Check out the new Honda Tuning mag. They did it on 94 Lx with no mention of the e-brake

u gonna be drifting or something? u can just adjust the e-brake to make it respond better. I would think drums would respond faster since they are more prone to lock up. Anyway honestly it isnt worth it. Even if u are gonna drift... ur car is FWD. Your car is gonna be understeering too much.... thats why it isnt an ideal drift car (FWD cars).

No, I don't plan on using my accord lx as a drift car.

I just like to scare the people in the back seat. I was mainly going to do it for asthetics, but I think you talked me out of it.
