Run in with Mazda 6

After hockey last night, I was driving home with my dad and brother and our hockey gear in the car (so it probably was in the vicinity of 450lbs in passengers and gear, plus me [200lbs]). My centerman has an 04 Mazda 6 V6 5spd. Anyway, he's tailing me, and next thing I know he's flying by, so I dropped it into first (only doing like 10 at the time), and then into 2nd, but with him getting the jump, I wasn't able to reel him in with the space we had (only to almost the end of 2nd). Obviously if we had room, I would have gone by in 3rd even with the added weight, but now this guy thinks he can beat me; he's extremely cocky. I have issued a challenge to him and we're going to run, but he says not with his winter tires on. I think he's just chicken, but whatever. So I had a bunch of extra weight, I'm 800 miles overdue for an oil change (I know, not good), and I had to severly grind 2nd to make it go in with my bad syncro. All in all, anyone here who has an MBC, let me know what kind and if you're happy with it. I am not happy with the overall performance of the car right now. I think a total tune up and 14.5psi is in the making. Let's figure out which controller I'm going to get. Obviously, to not completely and utterly destroy the 6 would be a total embarassment to the 3s family. Help me out please.

Race him, you'll destroy him
As far as bc, check the FAQ, there is a boost controller comparion.
Also check out proboost mbc for $25 shipped. I've heard they took down their website or something, so I'm not sure what the deal is with that, but do some searching.

I am TT'd. It's way overdue for a service, so I'll have it done tomorrow and see how it's running after that. And Proboost has just disappeared from the planet. They're gone.

Yo so I run a 99 626, and it kick a$$ for the most part I ran with an 89 5.0 GT Mustang, beat his a$$ out of the hole, and then about half to the next light he starts eating at my a$$, and then closing up on the light his car is at my passenger mirror so i just bearly beat him but i think i did pretty good for a 2.0L auto with an 8psi turbo made by Garret

Hey boosted, don't make the same mistake I did. I went cheap...make sure you don't go too cheap. Get one that has boost and vacuum(negative pressure). Mine only shows boost 0-30psi, which doesn't help diagnose vacuum leaks. Also when installing it...don't use the crappy skinny plastic Autometer vaccuum tubes, they suck and get pinched and stuff. I wasted $20 on an install kit from Autometer, only to end up throwing it out after a week.

Thanks for the advice. I just checked out an OBX 2" gauge, I think from -20 to 30psi, which would be sufficient (like $30). Now I just need to find a pod for my gauge. From whom should I buy an install kit? Ps...the car is being tuned up today so hopefully it'll be working better.

Had the oil changed and stuff. My GF was driving behind me yesterday and when I came onto it, she later told me the smoke was kind of white and smelled really bad...she isn't very knowledgeable about cars, but this could be a bad thing.
