My friend's truck will not start... jump starting won't work. The strangest thing is the battery had enough of a charge to turn on the door chime when the drivers door opens, but when we jump the battery and let it sit for a couple minutes the door chime doesn't work anymore and there is nothing happening electrically (nothing electric works) yet the battery still has power.
is there a main fuse to look at or what?
also the dome light seems to be a culprit that slowly drains the battery cause it seems it slowly draws power. which fuse is the dome light connected to? this is a single cab 3/4 ton with a 350 v8
any help would be greatly appreciated

Blown cell in the battery, get it load tested.

Check for gunk on the battery cables. Take them off and clean them. But a battery charger on it for a hour and test it with a volt meter and see what the reading is. Also loose wires on the starter can cause problems like yours

Its easier to bring it to an auto parts store and let them load test it, they have better powered machines than trickle chargers. Cleaning the corrossion off the terminals helps too.

my friend and i tested both grounds, the one on the chassis and the one to the engine going to the battery, both read about 12 volts with a mulitmeter, so they aren't bad. is there an inline circuit breaker or fuse i should be looking at?
so... when the key is pushed into the ignition, the chime comes on, when the key is turned to start, nothing happens. headlights don't work, seems to be some resistance somewhere

Check the ignition wiring. Look for breaks or burns in the wires. Make sure all connections are tight. If not it could be a bad ignition switch.

Like Rbraczyk said "have it LOAD tested" checking voltage to ground is not testing under a load. A load test takes about 20 seconds to perform.
