Difference between Cruisers and Sportbikes

So I'm planning to get a bike, not anytime soon... but I was wondering because most of the threads here are about sportbikes, if learning on a sport bike and cruiser is vastly different. Or do the beginner rules still apply? Starting on a 250 cc etc...

If you're going for cruisers, you can pick up the Honda Nighthawk 250 or Yamaha Virgo.

If you're heading toward sportbikes: ninja 250/500 or suzuki gs500 will introduce you to what sportbike handling is all about.

then there's also sv650, which is a small v-twin sportbike that satisfies both worlds.

As a GENERAL RULE (note: GENERAL... this does not hold true for everything...), the cruisers are USUALLY more forgiving in terms of making mistakes that don't turn you into a pavement crayon. Again, this is not always the case, but more of a generality.

Most of the time, it is a smart choice to start on a small "cruiser", or the more proper term is "traditional", bike and then change to sportbike if your heart so desires.

Take the MSF course. In some states (Like here in PA) it is free, and provides priceless amounts of knowledge and experience.

Well learn on what you want to ride ya mean. They both react the same but in situations both will act different but the concept is the same so if you wanna cruise get that if you dont and you wanna add a lil' spark to ur life than sport is the way to go. But start small regardless of which you choose.
