Wont be a huge HP gain, but you will feel it. A cheap and easy mod, why not?

i dont mean to be a smartass but i think it all depends on what brand filter you use. I know that the one on my friends car gave him an 8 hp gain and the one on mine gave me a 7. and on the specs for an AEM cold air intake kit it says 8-12 hp gain...

Hey guys,

I own one of these 94 2.2 auto. It seems to have okay power for daily driving.

7-10 / 3-5 What is the difference? It aint much. It has no MASS sensor so my bet is that you have no noticeable gain. I would test the maximum possible gain by
1.test driving with the snorkle removed. (Low restriction)
2.try placing a bag of ice on the intake and fuel lines. (Cool air)

I still bet that the difference is not noticable. But it would look pretty cool.

Sound is important. I once owned a Baja VW Bug. 45 horsepower (maybe)? But about 20 of those horses were dedicated to dual trumpet exhaust. Man did is sound powerful.

Does a C.A.I. really make your car sound different or is it noticable at all.

Same tone as an aftermarket exhaust, just not as loud. But you can definately hear it.

Just out of curiosity, what would this type of modification do for a 3.1 EFI?

Jim.

but to tell you the truth, there really isnt much difference between a cai and a wai air circulates in the engine compartment when goin down the road, the same air that is closer to the ground, save yourself some piping! the only difference is when you put your car on a dyno, because the engine generates heat off of the block and exhaust manifold, and the air closer to the ground is oviously cooler.. but seriously, who spends all there driving time on a dyno?
