What in the world?

Maybe there are some knowlegeble people in here. A couple of days a go I bought a 1992 Mustang Lx. It has a four cylinder in it. My question is why does my four cylinder have two distributor caps and eight spark plugs in th engine. I'm baffled. Nobody can tell me why or how. Can you.

Odd isn't it? You have a distributer less electronic ignition system.

The solution is quite simple, get yourself an SVO turbo or yank that 4 banger for a good old V-8. FYI the modulars will fit (that should get the wheels turning :sun: )

I have never seen one of those. Now I'm kind of curious. Can you post a picture?

Its just one of those mistakes that Ford made. They should have never put a four cylinder into any of the Mustangs. That was a bad mistake.

If I were you I would do an engine swap. For at least a V-6.

About the 8 spark plug and 2 distributor caps, I would also want to know about that. It seems strange. Mabye there is a way to change the ignition timing or something. Or maybe Ford thought that it would help to get more horsepower and better gas mileage.
