Type-S vs. Impala SS

What do you think about a Type S vs. a 94 Chevy Impala SS? Yes, I know racing is stupid- you don't need to point that out....but it was very late and the highway was empty and straight for miles (not a good excuse, I realize). In my defense the punk was hardcore tailgating for a while and starting to really piss me off when I decided to go. It just kind of escalated from there. From what I could dig up the SS has about 260hp, but that thing was pretty damn big. And I'm prrretty sure it was a 94 due to the body style. Started around the speed limit at about 70-75. He stuck with me somewhat but trailed off around 120. That's the first time I've taken it over 105...and it was a real assclencher. A little touchy/squirrely. Wonder if he fell back due to his car or maybe his brains kicked in before mine. I think next time I won't be so retarded...

I'll tell you the iVTEC and SRI at that speed/rpm level in really cold, dry weather felt very nice. Think I'd need some more suspension goodies to feel safer, though.

Im the last person to judge on racing, cause I do it from time to time as well...people in V6 mustangs, civics (depending), and celicas need to be taught that they are REALLY slow...as for the Impala SS I was thinking it was just a supercharged V6....ummmm its a 5.7L V8 so it definately has the high km/h power tht comes with hving a huge engine so I dont think he couldnt handle it...but then again it is a chevy and its a 94

Hmm. I would probably give it to the Impala since that thing has a nice big engine. You have some guts trying to take it. I would be so afraid it was a police car, I'd have to slow down and let it by! :grinno:

120, you say. Be more cautious next time :slap: . Let the brain take over and relax. Play Celine Dion and just melt in her music! Just remember that you'd probably get your license taken away if you were pulled over! :crying:

Don't play Celine Dion, she will put you to sleep and you will run into a pole...or she will make you drive your car off a cliff

theres a guy in another forum who says he has a 96 Impala SS and it runs mid 13s stock...whether its true or not you add a complete second onto that and your still faster than an rsx....but we handle and brake better!

I did think it was a cruiser for a mile or so, but I noticed it had nice shiny rims. I wasn't really trying to take it either...just got angry because he was on my ass and thought I'd try and burn him. If I'd known it had a SC V8 I wouldn't have even bothered. I suppose he could have made me look like a total douche if he'd tried. :lol2: Lesson learned...now where's my goddamned 'Titanic' soundtrack?

BTW, Canuck...A Clay Aiken Christmas is on this week. Set your VCR.

Sorry if you misheard but the V8 isn't supercharged...its a stndard 5.7 that was found in the Tahoe and other GM vehicles...the new Impala SS is a supercharged V6 but the old ones are n/a

As for the Clay Aiken Christmas thing, I know for a fact that Crazy Canuck has 2 tickets, one for him and one for you S777....are ya gonna hold hands through the whole performance?

Um... been a while for me, but here it goes. The Impala has an obvious advantage, but it is also heavy, and has about the worst aerodynamics of any car I've seen (other than Liquids Grand Wagoneer). I would give it to the SS. But he will also be sucking up so much gas you will pass im laer on down the road. Unless it is modified to a stick, then he would be out of the gas station before you get there.

Good point. Whether he wins or not, he's still behind the wheel of a BOAT. :grinyes:

Why do you think that you could even touch the ss that is way out of your league no if he wanted to he would have left you like you were standing still. there is a guy at are local car show and on the back of his window sa v-tec this Its some funny shit. But there is now way that you would have stood a chance if he would have got on it.

Hey, I don't consider my car to be THAT slow..

I've raced an impala SS from a roll before on the interstate.. I walked away easy from 65+. His exhaust sounded MEAN!! It has a nice engine.. too bad it weighs 4,200lbs.
