I hear the wiring for the side view mirror turnsignals are already in the door. I was wondering if anyone added them on a truck that did not come with them from the factory. I have my eye out on ebay, but if someone got them somewhere else I would be interested as well. thanks!!!

As you noted, the turnsignal wiring is indeed run up to the drivers (and passenger) door modules. You only need a mirror with the turnsignal option, and she plugs right into the module...

For sure 2003-2005, but it *may* work for 2002 as well. Not sure when GM changed the network protocol in the trucks...or even if that would have an impact. I know I just dropped 2003 heated/memory/leather seats into my 2004, and there were definately changes in control (one drivers side controller in 2004 vs two in 2003...), but the communication works fine.

Good day.

I am also looking for the amber turn signal modules (driver & passenger). Can someone please provide the part number & also where I can purchase or order them directly? Thank you.

Jose

Check eBay Motors. Usually there are a few on there.

I called in about this to Chevy and they told me that not all vehicles are wired for this. I pulled in my side mirror and popped off the little cover where the signal light would go and found no provisions for a light. There are clips and a small screw that hold the blank on there. When I looked up there I saw just the power wires that probably move the power mirror motors and power the heater. Anyone else find a plug'n play? Is it worth me digging a little deeper to find a power source? The lights themselves only cost about $12.50 each from the dealer.

I know the turn signal signal wire runs to the door modules in the trucks for sure. Howeever, I'm not sure if the wiring exists in the mirror to the module for the turn signal.

My guess....buy the turn signal lens from GM, wire up a bulb and holder (GM as well?) and run it to the door module in the same harness as the current power wires. You just need to get a terminal for the connector to the module and you would be good. Pretty easy upgrade I'm sure...

I Insatll them around two months ago. I called the dealer in Winter Park, FL and wanted to seel the whole mirror. I told them That I need the Lenses for both sides and they said that it can only be used on models with this option. I had to tell them that mine someone steal them in order to buy the lenses which cost $12.95 each at the GM Dealer. I bought them and the only hard time was passing the wires thru the mirror to the door. Had to drill a little hole and remove the black front cover of the mirror. After that it was a piece of cake. The work perfect and also with the hazard lights as well.

Good luck in you project!!!

So are you saying that underneath that cover there is a bulb receptical, we just need to wire it? Or does the lense have all the "guts" in it?

The lenses come with the Bulb and the Socket already. You will need to pass a the wiring thru the mirror. It gave me a little of hard time trying to pass them inside the mirror frame since the ones that power the motor to move the mirror are pressed down with part of the metal base. I drilled a little hole gentle in the arm of the base and paas them thru the door. I connected one to Ground and the other one to the Module. You can use a tester to see which one is the correct wire. In my 2004 LS was a Light Blue and a Dark blue wire on each Module. I think this is the only wire alone at the far back of the Module. This wire also is feeded by the hazard light as well.

This has been the best information I have found yet on the topic! Much better than paying $100+ for a whole new assembly! I am contacting my dealer today!
