2000 GT Questions

I JUST bought a 2000 Grand Prix GT with the 3.8L 3800 and only had 38k miles on it.

A small issue that I don't know if I need to have looked at:

I didn't notice this right away (bad me) but the engine tends to start a tad funny. I can't really describe it, but studdering during startup has happened a couple times. Are there any starter motor problems that the 2000 GP has that anyone knows of?

Could it be the fuel grade that the other person used?

The engine runs great otherwise.

Thanks for all your help.

Jesse

It probably isn't a fuel grade issue if it is the 3.8 in the GT. Your supposed to run 87 but you can run anything higher (your just wasting your money) with no problems.

Is this a noise your hearing while the starter is turning the engine over (key turned all the way forward and held) or is it a noise that occurs right after the engine is started?

It wasn't a sound that was specific, as it just seemed to start funny. The car is too new to me in order to exactly pin down. My mechanic buddy said that his dad used to own a Buick with the 3.8 and he thought it started a tad goofy, but there was nothing wrong.

On another issue, are the brakes supposed to be a tad softer?

I drove Fords all my life, so maybe I am still in Fordland when driving vehicles :-). I will check the fluid and such, but I am wondering if it could be the pads already. Which would be odd since I bought it from a dealer which inspected it.

Thanks

Yeah well my dad noticed a noise in the way his 87 300Z started up, so he checked the water in the battery and cleaned the terrminals, that solved it. So what I mean is does it start up kind of weak? If so try that it might be an easy fix.
