Proper way to race.

Are there any ways that are "understood" that a race is on, more particularly on the highway. Cause really, only times I've ever been is when they are pacing me then drop back and then fly by me. And I just want to know, cause I'm sure there are things that should happen and are expected but I'm new and would just like to know for times sake. Other then that I got nothing.

Usually if someone pulls up next to you, stays parallel to you, you just look over and if they're looking over too; the it's on. But IMO, street and highway racing is stupid. You have to think that it's not always your driving ability that can get you killed, it's also the moron drivers who turn into your lane without looking first. And when a car is moving, sometimes it's hard to figure out exactly how fast someone else is going. So they might think you're going 5mph faster then them and that they have enough time to get in your lane and pass others, when you're really going 20mph faster; and boom. Keep it safe, and keep it at the track. You're guarenteed not to get tickets at the track also. Just my opinion.
