Wassup everyone. I was just remembering the 78 Celica I almost got as my first car, it was a 5 speed hatchback GT with all the cool late 70's options but it had a weak ass motor, it was called a 20R I think, had some rust too and a leaking hatch. Anyways I was wondering if those cars are worth fixing up, like maybe dropping in a 2.2 with some nice carbs or an aftermarket EFI?

With these RWD babies, you can drop in almost any Toyota engines if you have the money.

well crud, if I had money I don't think I'd be driving my 216k mile 87 Accord Lx lol :D
Seriously tho, there are no drop in motors for these? Like motors that used the same mounts? I'd obviously need to redo the fuel delivery.

you couldve directly swapped in a 3TGTE motor. 2 liter twin cam 8 valve (2 per cyl) turbocharged CRAZY sob. :) came on japanese Celica GT-Rs
(if you want, i can get a picture to rub salt into your wounds... hehehe)

yea man, go for it. I have some nice deep gashes in my hands from working on some tight-engine-bayed Hondas these past few weeks and they could use some salt :stormzap:

damn man I hate to say this but the 78 is a different generation than those, although those are sweet looking cars you posted. The only thing I don't like are those goofy-looking mirrors.
Thanks for all the pics tho, where'd you find them?
