Best place to look is Car and Driver. This is what made me lean more twords the civic I purchased raher then another car. It was cheap affordbale and good on gas. Not to mention Civics are among the easiest to perform upgrades on which was the big factor in my decission. If this is for your parents the best thing to do is have them read up on both spec wise and compare the features which they feel they need. Civic are more for a young crowd. There arnt many luxuriose things about it. They are relaiable, one of the best in crash ratings and have a high buy back value. My parents were also interested in getting a Civic this year but it wasnt roomie enough so they went with an 05' Accord.
-After readin up on the Corolla I see its got some power!

Haven't posted in awhile so hi.

Don't know about the new corollas now that toyota and gm are sharing parts. I've been hearing about the new corolla having starting problems. Checkout the posts in the Toyota/corolla section and see for yourself. Also my neighboors have a 2004 corolla, just before winter I saw them with another car in their driveway for a few weeks then thier corolla was back. So I figuer it had some kind of problem. I do love the styeling of the new Corolla though.

civics are better in the corners and just in general more fun to drive. if u get the corolla-s then itll be faster then a civic, but the civic will still handle better. really its up to u, test drive both and decide which one u like.

Actually, if he chooses a Corolla Xrs there will be difference. The Corolla S is simply a normal Corolla with all the luxury features and some... "aero kits" (same as the Xrs', only without the GT-S engine). The Corolla CE/VE/Whatever's engine is the same engine as the Corolla S, so you're not getting any power out of having an S emblem on your trunk.

As in handling, you are correct. Civics handle a LOT better than Corollas. I've driven my sister's Corolla and I tell you... I just don't feel safe trying to evade cars in a Corolla after knowing my car, the Civic. The Civic moves when you move the steering wheel, where you want it, when you want it. The Corolla is a lot slower moving where you want it to move.

Both cars offer about the same life expansion, since both Toyota and Honda make these cars to last a lifetime... but if you're young and have what's called ADRENALINE... pick a Civic.
