2002 Alarm ..red light Question

I have a Limited .Ive noticed that SOME Explorers have a red light that lights up in the middle of the dash,when the car is locked ,but mine does not .I went to a car lot today and only 1 of 5 had the red on, What is the deal ,ant input would be great, Chris

It's part of the securlock system in the ingition. Some have entry alarms too but I think you are talking about that little light that barely blinks or does it so fast??

Mine does nothing no "blinks " at all , It does say Theft on the dash that blinks,BUT not the one on the top of the dash,right under the window, most of the ones Ive seen act like mine. Thanks, Chris

Yeah, I have no idea what's the difference. I just installed a remote starter on a '01 CrownVic that had that huge LED light on the dash but it was with the ignition key. The car had absolutely no entry alarm.
