Gday,
my car has a 3speed auto FWD gearbox problem where it will not move regardless of selector. When i place it into gear it still has no load on it. this goes for any gear it may be in.
sometimes when i start the car it will move but it wont change to second and it will slip out of gear and free rev after about 30 secs of driving. im fairly sure there is gearbox oil in there noted from the dipstick.
The gearbox is not computer controlled as the engine is carbie.
Could anyone suggest a fix? Ive heard the bands or solenoids or something like that may be gone, but this has no meaning to me

Most auto trans require a fluid check when the engine is warm and running.
If you check it with the engine off, it will show on the dipstick but the level will actually be too low for proper operation.
If ou are SURE the level is correct, try a transmission fluid and filter change (you must remove the transmission pan to do this; clean out the pan at the same time)
In my experience, this cures problems like yours about half the time...........its worth a try because its a lot cheaper than a major trans repair.
