bee like? i know that for a while there all i had was a stock exhaust on my Z24 but like a month ago i got the cat back and a header and it sounds a bit better... if you want performance than go for full exhaust system but if its just sound... the muffler alone sounds pretty good... not as good as a full system tho...

i run a header,a high flow cat(really a resonator),a 24"resonator after that, and then an OEM style muffler (3"narrower & about 4" shorter than stock) and it has a nice deep sound at idle & cruising.and while accelerating & going through the gears it sounds pretty bad-ass for a 4 cyl. its not to loud and deffinently doesNOT sound like a "pissed off bee". and by opening up the exhaust,it helped noticly with high-end performance.the best part (that i like) is that when someone gets behind you a wants to try and pull on you , they see no aftermarket muffler hanging out and no loud fart sound, and they think you have nothing, but drop a gear and pull away and they'll hear/know differrent, haha suprise. :naughty:

Like he said. If all you are doing is changing the muffler, avoid those large coffee can type mufflers. Go with a stock looking oval case style, like those made by Flowmaster 40 (2 chamber) or 50 series (3 chamber, quieter than the 40 series), Dynomax Super Turbo, etc.

hell,to keep mine looking as stock/sleeper as possible, i went so far as to cut my factory "2-pipe" tip off the factory muffler and weld it to the new muffler

I need to ditch my fart cannon
Fart Cannon???? Not to seem naive, but what the hell is a fart cannon? I don't think I have ever heard of that option before... Is this a dealer installed option? Should I go and ask? I can just see the look on those guy's faces..."Excuse me sir, would you please install a fart cannon on my car?"

The Darwin emblem...very classy :grinno:
SHAVE YOUR DAMN CAR FOR HEAVEN"S SAKE!!! :p
And a fart cannon is a sarcastic term used to describe exactly what is on crj's car (sorry man, had to :grinno: ). Typically on the "ricer" cars, a large, protruding, often chrome muffler, with a tip no smaller than 4 inches across. Gets its name from the raspy, "wet fart" sound it makes under throttle.

Its the common street term for those huge round mufflers you commonly see on 4 cylinder sport compacts. I've never understood the concept, when you figure the exhaust is about 2" in diameter (larger if you've replaced it) from the engine to the back bumper and then at the back bumper it turns into a 4 or 5" outlet. Does that help flow? I guess the large outlet size is more for looks than anything.

Fart cannon, that IS a good one, as well as a new one for me. Anyway i have a few friends with cavi's, 2.4L for the most part, and most them have the dual tip ractive mufflers on them, now they don't sound like a bee at all, they actually sound really good. its a nice clean, deep rumble, if that it was u are looking for then take a look into a ractive.
