Watz up everyone, have a quick question… my lifters on my engine are loud. It sounds like (tick tick tick) . Do think I need to change the springs for the lifters? And if I need to remove the cams, I don’t know how to adjust the timing! So any help on the timing would be greatly appreciated. Plus why does that happen? Tnx all!

With the SR keep your oil changes up. If they're not serviced properly the oil galleries can clog up and lead to starvation.

What oil are you using?

Toksin, you just damaged some poor kid severely with that sig.LMFAO He's not getting anything this year.

Don't you have to check rocker arm clearances periodically on SRs?

i thought you dont have rocker arms on a sr?

Why do you think there's a half dozen companies out there that sell rocker arm stoppers for the SR?

well with my knowledge about KAs a little, i know the rockers get adjusted automatically by oil so even if they start wearing out more you will start ticking when you start the car till oil gets there then it stops.

i dont know much about the SRs and i would assume they would have a similar adjustment method.

It could be a few things, best way to figure this out is pull the valve cover off and try to move some parts with your fingers and see what it is thats moving... try to figure out exactly where hte noise is coming from before you remove the valve cover...

man it sucks.... when i started it its not too loud. by the time i park the car on the way back, the soud is deffntly louder.. (Tick, tick, tick)

" rocker arm stoppers " whats that and will it help in my case?

why do i need it? is my rocker arm "flooting?" OH MAN! and i don't think i can adjust the rocker arm?

BTW i sue Mobli 1 (20/50)..... its recomnded for Turbo cars etc...plus i change my oil every month and half....

My KA head makes the ticking noise. I believe a lot of cars do. One guy I heard of rebuilt his KA head and about 100 miles later, it started again. Check on www.freshalloy.com for clearances on rocker arms. If anyone knows, they will. BTW, you'll need a feeler gauge to check them.

Rocker arm jump stoppers = little thingies which keep your rocker arms from jumping out of their carriers at high RPM (and fucking your shit up, REAL BAD). A big problem with the SR20....

ERr, no. Whoops. Heh.

Do an oil change, see if that makes a difference.

Also, engines just get noisy with age. /shrug

KA24de and SR20det have different valvetrain styles.....

your ticking could be one of a dozen things... don't limit yourself to spending all your time on the rocker arms, check on everything that moves in the head first, get a FSM for a sr20det equipped car!!!

ALSO how high have you revved the engine? many people think SR's are this god almighty revving machine, but no matter what the case is over revving ANY engine will cause damage.

i shift at 6000 RPM, (max hp in my motor is @ 6G) and i just did an oil change...
i'm going to remove the head cover and see if anything is loose....
