Eclipse Targa

Hey!

I just found out that there is a european production car that is like the 1G Eclipse/Talon that has a targa top. I was just wondering if anyone has done or has heard of a conversion for doing this??

yeah...i found out about that too, and was suprised

anybody have a link to info about it? ive heard they made one but ive never seen it.

Dre99GSX from Tuners did a ridiculously badass targa conversion to his 500+whp 2g GSX.

that 2g looks so sick being a targa top, i want it done!!!!!

do you guys know if there is any kits for it, or do you just have to custom fabricate the whole thing or what isthe scoop??

I have a 1G and I really want to do that. I have said since I bought it "I wish it had a targa top" and when I found out it actaully existed, i was amazed.

Oh, and thumbs up on that 2G Targa, is that just you doin the work or how did you pull that off?

It's not mine; it belongs to a dude named Andre, username Dre99GSX on DSMTuners.com. He did the custom job himself, from what I've heard, including building his own rollcage and support beams.

Looks like $$$ to me... Unless you know how to do that and have your own tools.

its also a lot more complicated then just cutting out the roof. you also need to add either a rollcage or some kind of frame supports otherwise your frame will flex too much since the roof is part of the support sytem for the whole car.

what i want to see is convertable 1g. i want to try but i dont have the time now maybe in a few years :dreams of a 1g AWD turbo spyder:

i think they should of made the 2g's targa rather than convertible.

plus i beleive he used supra targa seals too i think

hey heres my try at a 1g spyder. the front has the custom headlights that i want to make if anybody's interested. i know the drawing sucks but its the best i could do with mspaint lol. the spyder would need a full roll cage too but i had a hard enough time drawing the interior no less adding a roll cage

i am alittle skeptial about doing your own targa top...because if you mess up and it dosent work out, your basically screwed....

i agree it looks tight but all you guys out there thinkin you know how to do everything...i would get somebody to help out whos actually done that type of work before just so you dont mess up....plain n simple words of wisdom ;)

Yeah, it is CRAP!!! Its not fair at all that Europe gets them. I really want to do something, either the targa or maybe just a sunroof, but I know (as said above) that there is other support stuff I would have to do. I will have to look into it more.

I'm sure you can--if you can import Skylines, you should be able to import these. I think they are rather rare even in Europe though...

i'd do it but i don't wanna lose the sunroof.... unless you could setup a system that would allow the top to have the sunroof in it and remain functional .... lol .... nevermind that just sounds dumb ... i still like the concept of targa tops ..... never could give up my sunroof tho

The roll cage has to be heavy duty too. Notsome crappy little thing. It has to support the flex of the WHOLE car. I heard the dude with the GSX had to redo the roll cage numerous times because the carstill flexed. That thing is awesome tho

Targa Top is NOT the same as a T-top, For Targa Top, the whole roof panel is open. T-top, there is a bar in the middle of the roof, and the only thing that you can take off are 2 panels.

Humm.. I've never heard of hollywood top, a quick search on google didn't come up with anything related to cars either.
