I need a little help! I've recently purchased a '91 mr2 and am in the process of having a '98 celica gts vvti (red top) swaped into it. I want this car to be the best it can possibly be and cosmetically i know where i want to go with it. My problem comes with the mechanics of it. Im wanting to achieve maximum speed but it is going to be a daily driver so i dont want to do anything that might at some point hurt it either. Other than the swap theres nothing done to it, so thats where im at right now. You guys seem to know your shit so id really love all the opinions i can get. Thanx!

Anytime you increase power, you are decreasing reliability. If you think that is not true, you are kidding yourself.
If you want power and you want to do it the right way, start reading here:

I completely understand that an increase in power is a direct result in decrease of reliability thats why i added it was going to be a daily driver. I still believe you should be able to increase power in some form and still feel safe the car is gonna last longer than a few runs. The site you sent a link to was ton of help though, lots of good information!

Yes, of course you can get great increases without completely destroying your realibility.
I was repsonding to your words "Im wanting to achieve maximum speed" ... that is a rather lofty goal.
I would think that a healthy 3SGTE could push 270-300 rwhp and remain really realiable if done right.
