i have a 97 ford escort, the old radio was ripped out only leaving the wires behind. i want to install a radio but how do i know which wire is which? there are no connecters on the wires . so i will have to wrap wires together to make a connection. any one know which wires go together as the color wires from my car and radio are different.

hehehe..luckily for you...I ahve the 97-2000 model stereo stuff.

Haynes says the following......

Antenna(that's obvious..black, silver 'male' pointy thing sticking out, goes in the back of your stereo there will be a slot for it)

Item Color of wire
Ground Black
Illum Power* Red/Black(red w/black stripe)
Illum Ground* Green
* Interior Lights
Fused Ignition Blue/Black
Power Blue/Red

Right Rear - Blue
Right Rear + black/white

Right Front - blue/white
Right Front + orange

Left Rear - Red/blue
Left Rear + Black/Red

Left Front - Purple/? (last wire left)
Left Front + Pink

To test it out, put your strero on one corner(left front) and match the wires up and then another corner(right rear), match them up......until your done.

That should take care of the stereo mess you have. good luck!
