98 Explorer Spt. - Brake Lights Out

Hello,
My 98 Exp. Spt.'s brake lights went out about a week ago. The running lights still work, but nothing when the brake is pushed. Also, the top warning light (on the top of my rear hatch) is flashing even when the car is parked and the ignition is off.
I believe this is draining my battery as I had to get a jump the other day. I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. I have checked the bulbs and they are fine.
Is it more likely the brake pedal switch? Or a grounding problem. Would like to take care of this myself without having to go to a mechanic.
Thanks

Thankssounds like brake switch is bad just changed mine the other day on a 98 took five minutes. switch is held on by a hairpin keeper costs $11.00 at autozone not sure on the blinking light tho would change switch first

If your lights went out, did you put new bulbs in? If so, make sure they are the correct bulbs. Sounds silly but check them!
