jeep superchargers

ok i found a really bad ass supercharger for my 1994 jeep grand cherokee 4.0l. it comes from www.avengersuperchargers.com. but i was wondering if it gets submerged will the belt slip? if so will a turbo be a good alternative? so what could u do to prevent it from locking up

Sounds really cool !!! Do they have any for the 5.2's? And if your Jeep/Submarine is planning frequent regular submerged dives into the abyss. I might be more concerned about the turbo and possibly filling the intake full of H2O (lol). Think I would lean toward a high rise through the hood and the supercharger. Just not sure if they make high rises almost roof high, because it seems like thats what you might need. Good luck, it sounds like a fun ride once you get it built.

the company arb makes a snorkel that puts the intake up to the roof so the submerge wont be an issue. i want to stop at a creek and not think i need another way around but think instead how long will it take to get through? and ive always wanted to do it. ive been in a truck that did that engough to not get into the intake but wet the belt. it was slipping bad. thats why im worried. i want to put that supercharger, a stroker kit,mopar aluminum heads, headers,exaust,full currie axles,carbo drive shaft and a 6 inch lift should do it. ohh and suspention seats and a roll cage :iceslolan

OK, I've got this much better picture in my mind now. Thanks for the additional info. Hey, I don't know if this will work, and I actually kind of doubt it. But I'll run this stupid idea by you anyway. Not really sure how or if this will work with an application of a belt drive/any kind of belt drive. But here goes (crazy thought). I've heard of different types of water repellants, sprays, gels, solids. Now I realize you don't want to grease a supercharger drive belt and using something like that won't prevent it from getting wet. But, I was just wondering if you were to spray the drive belt with some type of water repellant substance if it might help prevent the belt from slipping? If it would help even just a small amount, it might do the trick. But again, I have no idea. Guess I'm just talking out loud to myself. If there was something water resistant, but not oil based. So not to act as a lubricant. That you surely don't want. Again, just talking out loud. Still sounds really cool and now down the road when your Sub reaches the crossroads of that creek. Keep me in mind to let me know how it turns out.

i did not know that they made a spray to repell water? thats crazy the things people make up these days its funny. but i thought of building a metal box around the bottom pullys and leave the top open and just hope that water does not flow in the box. but then i could build it to the hood and have not problems. the water spray will be a good idea but wouldent the belt were the sprey off? thanks for the ideas and it should work ill try that first then ill try the box thing

Yeah I would think after a Sub ride or two you would have to re-spray/reapply what ever the repellant be. You know I have heard of various water repellant materials. But I’m not sure if they make or there are any on the market that would work for this application. In theory it sounds pretty good (lol). Well let’s look at it this way. H.G. Wells thought of traveling to the moon long before that was possible (more lol’s). As far as your box idea, brownie points awarded for the concept. But that also would have to be water tight to achieve the goal. I’m not sure how you could completely insulate and make water tight a box that will be fitting around the front of the motor. Sounds like a Sam’s Club trip for a case of silicone (LOL). Keep me posted; our theories are getting more complicated. Need to break out some Jules Verne books (p.s. might be visa versa on the author's).

lol thanks for the brownie points ill redean them soon. ya that will take a lot of silacone. but what about cuttin weatherstriping and putting it over the top of the box so when the hood closes it will seal it aginst the stripping and cillacone the hell out of the inside of the box. its possible and can be does if i do that i could make a kit and sell it and make some money. thanks for the support i think it will be awsome

The closure part where the hood and the box come together sounds great. Yes, I agree with you I do think weather stripping would work well for that purpose. I'm not exactly sure if you could make it out to be a completely water tight bond between the two or not. But it would certainly come close.

So OK, let's get down to the real possibilites of this now. Let's take a close hard look at the box below the hood level. Not to even mention above the hood level, because I thought we're talking high rise through the hood supercharger here? How would that be sealed up?

But for now let's get back to the below the hood portion of the box. Umm, with everything turning/spinning so fast near the lower half of the engine (mainly harmonic balance pulley) How are you going to seal a box around there? There are barely clearances as it is now. Let alone with another item/box trying to wrap itself around the pulley.

In other words, I think the pulley comes out and away from the oil pan with little to no clearance now (not much room) So now we're talking about making a box that wraps around underneath the pulley and hooks to the oil pan in some fashion that we're able to silicone it and make it air/water tight.

Better get on the phone to M.I.T now. We need some mechanical engineers (lol). And see I told you it would get more interesting. Oh BTW blue light special isle #19 brownie points are being redeemed now. Scratching head, need to read few more books here, check out more theories.

ok i thought of this and the supercharger is now out. to much fabracation time. here is a better idea. a turbo. ok here goes. why not buy a arb snorkel system for starters. ok then buy a turbo kit 9still reserching that one) and build a pipe to connect from the turbo wheel to the snorkel system? the wheel is the only thing exposed right/ so connect it to the snorkel. sounds easier then the box and it will be water tight
