Help!
The car runs perfectly until it comes to a stop. It idles at 800rpm with just a tiny roughness. Then idle drops down to 600rpm and it get real rough. Finally it drops again and you have give it a little gas so it will idle at 900rpm.

have you checked your air filter, plugs, and fuel filter???
if you have done those things and everything seems fine then you might wanna try some running some fuel injector cleaner through...
still nothing...start checking sensor connections. TPS and MAF particularly.
hope this helps....

Vacuum leak, listen under the hood while in idle for air leak, hissing sound. Intake manifold gasket is a common leak area.

I'm curious. What is the idle supposed to be on an automatic '01 Altima? I just bought one in September, and everything seemed perfect on it, but I noticed that it idled slightly rough at 600 RPM, especially when the cooling fan comes on. I just figured since it was a 4-cylinder it would idle rougher than the 6-cylinder that I am used to. Anyway, it seems to be getting rougher, and it also fluctuates up and down cyclically, even when i'm accelerating at times. In addition to this, when I first start driving (now that it's a bit colder) it sounds like an exhaust rattle when I hit the gas in drive and reverse, but not in neutral or park, which leads me to believe there is something going on with the transmission. Since I'm used to a manual and not an automatic, I again have no clue at all. Anyone have any leads for me to investigate?? As for now I am just planning on putting some new tranny fluid in there and see what happens. By the way, I only have 27,000 on the car. Thanks for any tips!!
