question....i know the car doesn't apply here but the question is valid
if i have a nx2000, would it be better to swap in a sr20det or take a sr20de and turbo it. the reason why i ask is cost wise....seen a bluebird sr20det for $1700 on ebay and a sr20de for $400-$700 on ebay...and i'm not sure it it'll be worth the $ to buy the sr20det vs building up a sr20de....they also had a red top JDM sr20de on ebay for $700...is there anything special about that vs the US version?

well im not that sure but i think u need to upgrade the pistons and all that extra turbo stuff on the sr20de because it doesnt come stock turbo harged whereas the sr0det come with all upgraded parts and everything. also, u will spend more money on just the turbo kit than u will on the engine(sr20det) and it will probably yeild worse results.
my $.02 is to take the sr20det.

I think it would be wise to get the clip, that way you will get all of the stuff to do the swap and get it on the road. but if you plan on buying a equal length header, better pistons, rods new gasket, and all of the other stuff, going to a front mount intercooler, and trashing/selling all of the stock stuff. then save your money, do research and build the us version. there are several yards here in Oklahoma city that sell used sr20de sets from the nissans and infinity lines for very reasonable prices. I think for a front clip you could get one locally for a grand if it is in perfect shape, or less according to the condition.

so your saying either get a bluebird clip or go the other route of using a usdm nx clip and building from there to do my cutting and fitting on that car then transfer it over to my car? if that's what ur sayin then i think the latter sounds better...seening as itz gonna be a project car i think itz cheaper that way...i can already go ahead and get the engine and a stand...too bad i own no tools :shakehead
but anyone still know the diff between the red top and regular sr20de?

the compression ratio is different. the n/a naturally will have a higher comp ratio compared to the turbo version. so therefore allowing you make more power for the same psi, but is also restricting you from running higher boost safely.

get the PULSAR GT-R CLIP!!!!!! its has 230 hp, stronger tranzmshn.
BTW , why would u even consider the SR20DE over the DET? u need to upgread the engine AND the tranny!!! thats money dude!

Id go with the Bluebird. The only differences in the US / JDM SR20 Turbos are the Compression / Coil-on-Plug Ingtion / piston Coolers

i believe the piston coolers are still in the u.s.dm one. also the fwd SR's don't use coil on plugs. they still use the good'ol distributer. but i would definitly take the GTi-R motor. turbo+4 throttle bodies= bad ass.

seeing what my options are b/c i can get a 30K mi sr20de for $400 and go the homemade turbo route....and keep my same tranny...
my knowledge on the GTi-R is limited...i'm lookin on ebay at engines and they always say GTi-R, 200SX, U12, and what not on the same det engine...is the GTi-R the only one with a top mount intercooler? and i know they rate this one at 205hp

if i were you i wouldn't just use ebay the prices vary extremely and the trust worth of the people there
the turbo kit for the us version is going to run you the same as the sr20det
the pulsar engine would kick ass

My friend's (slightly worked) GTiR Motor:
http://tinypic.com/ur5va
Note: GTiR SR20 injectors are top feed, RWD ones are side feed. A trap for young players ;)
As was said, the DET has the oil squirters, the DE doesn't. Get a GTiR one, but pray you get one in good condition, preferably stock. The one I posted is dead now, due to bad tuning.
