Turbo ?'s

Well I could swear I made a thread earlier asking this but I dunno if it got deleted or I just didn't submit. Anyway, I'm thinking of doing a turbo upgrade and I'm just wondering if you people think that $300 for a small 16G that is basically brand new a good price? If I can get it for $250 I will probably take it but I'm not sure if I can get it for that price.

Another option is to just get the 14B which I will probably end up doing unless I find a really good price on a 16G. Most 14b's I've seen are around $140-150 but I'm looking for one around $100

Any advice please? Thanks, Chase

$250 for a s16g is a solid deal IMO. How close to being brand new is it? Have you checked it out in person? I would consider $300 for a s16g a decent deal as well, particularly if it's in good shape. However, you can get big 16gs with 5-10k miles for about that price as well. If you could get it for $300 or less, shipped, it would probably be worthwhile if it's in good condition.

As far as whether you want to go with a 14b or 16g, it depends on what you want out of the car. If you want a solid 13 second car, the 14b will do the trick. In order to go faster, a 16g is more practical, although 12s have been done in 14b powered 2gs.

I originally planned to go 14b--then I decided to take Kevin's advice: do it once, do it right. I'm aiming for a 12 second car, and I think I'd have difficulty accomplishing that on a 14b. That's why I bumped it up to a s16g, and finally decided to go with an EvoIII 16g. Although that's not on the car yet, either, so you never know if I'll change my mind again :p

Well, I want something fast but if I get below 13.99 or below I have to get a roll bar and driveshaft loop (whichever that is) if ever wanna go back to the track, which I like to do and that would be a pain in the ass.

13.99!? Do you have a convertible or something? You need a rollcage at 11.99 here...

it will be pretty easy for you to get to 13.99 a driveshaft loop isnt a big deal and rollbars arent too bad. check out shpyders rollbar on his old spyder. im not sure if its still in his sig you may have to email him for it.

What exactly is a driveshaft loop? And is Shpyder the one that has the red spyder? If so that's just a plastic light bar.

i think it has a metal frame. a driveshaft loop is just a ring of metal that bolts around your drive shaft so that if your ujoints break the driveshaft stays where its supposed to (under the car) instead of flying through the floor and smacking you in the ass while spinning at 60 mph

EDIT>>> :smacks self in head: spyders are only fwd so you shouldnt need a driveshaft loop since you just have front halfshafts

yea there for if the drive shaft falls in the front so that you wont flip , ive seen it happen and its not pretty
