Cheap Swap :( - need of some info

Well I have a bad motor in my 88 CRX DX
I have no cash to do a nice swap...

So I found a 94 d15b7 with 60k for $100 runs good...

My question is will all my parts fit no issues so I do not have to swap over to obd1?
If I were to go through with this hassle I would just toss more money ($400 more) and go with a z6, which I dont have....

I did an MPFI from a 88 Si already so like the b7, which is already a MPFI, I should be able to bolt my mani on a be ready to go.
The PM6 Mani will bolt up, right?

Will the PM6 Dizzy fit/work?
I know that for the z6 head you have to mod one of the mounting holes, is it the same for the d7?

Is the Exaust mani the same too?
I have a DIYPorted ZC version.

Power-wise, the stock d15b7 is rated at 105hp, which seems just like a d15a with MPFI, right?
Close enough to an Si for now...

Before you all go crazy and say why did I put a ZC mani on a d15a, well it was like $40 complete (very rare) and according to most things I read it was about as good as any header on a N/A motor, without the noise. It has longer and bigger primary runners then the z6 and gives better midrange power. Becides the stock CRX ones suck @ss big time!!! And my MPFI swap cost me $80 and one days work.

Ok Im cheap...what do you want? Its my Beater88...
So far the whole project cost about $1300
88 CRX DX - $300 body in good shape, not running (easy fix) stripped insides, needs Paint, salvage due to theft
88 Si insides $100 door panels, seats, mats, Good (rare) trunk lid!!! and more
Koni Shocks (old yellows) and Eibach ProKits - $250 used springs & Front shocks, new 88 rears
ADR 16" rims and tires $400 used rims, only needed 2 new tires
MPFI Swap $80
Complete exaust - $150
Rear Si Swaybar and mounts Free!!!!
Other junk too, small stuff...

A smile when I drive it....Priceless!!!!

Thanks!!!

yup.. everything will swap on no problem... no worries... except for the dizzy...you will have to do a similar mod as for the z6..

Cool that is what I thought!

I dont remember what was the Dizzy mod? Was it the bottom hole?

**:"wait, they made a si four door?" - HUH?! Dont remember stating this...
And they sorta did it was called the EX in made only 90-91, I think.
Same motor at least, d16a6.
I want to find one to grab the front knuckes and discs to do a proper big brake swap.
I hear that the Integras work but they throw off the upper-A arm angle a bit.

Does anyone know what is different with the 92-95 upper-a arm?
I may need to change the ball joint and I want to put a camber kit but do not like the ingalls style.
I want to use a Skunk2 style with the replacement upper-a arm and movable ball joint.
It would kill two birds with one stone...

Oh Ya, one more ?:

As I have a 88 will there be any issues with changing the clutch?
I hear that some came with a 21 spline input shaft (Si?) and some with a 20 spline (the rest)?
How do you know what you have? Mine says L3 with a bunch of numbers...
I wanna have all the parts ready when I swap...
The newer cars have a 20 spline, right?
I want to use the b7 flywheel and a larger clutch from the later models.
Looking a some sites it looks like I can if I have the 20 spline.

Thanks!

My bad...
I ment that stupid carpet covered deal that is broken in Half in most cars.
I got one that was complete in mint condition for $10!!

I guess that it is called a trunk compartment cover?

I was going to swap the hatch for a Si to get the wiper but it was too much hassle.
Used rain-x, works great!

Thanks!

accually you can add the wiper without swaping the hatch, the mounting brackets are allready pressed inside of your hatch. you just have to find a motor, wire it, and drill a hole for the wiper motor to stick though to the outside. If you search the forums someone on here did it a while back and made a thread about what all they had to do, cant remember who it was though.

Looked into that, really it was the running of the wires, pulling the headliner and rear apart that turned out to be the hassle. I might do it now as I have some Dynamat stuff to install and will at least pull all the rear plastic out now...

Anyone else have any help for my other Questions?

Thanks

in the 89, there are some with 21 and some with 26 splines. is the 88 different? my 89 crx dx had 26, and i got that info on this forum :)

26 spline? Youre thinking of the splines on the axles where it goes into the steering knuckle. The imput shaft in the tranny is the one that has 21 splines (88) and 20 splines (89-91).

So all 88 have 21 spline?
The guy at the parts house says that all 88 are the same but on eBay sellers they list the DX different then the Si, but the same as the later models.

Dunno, anyone have a better idea?

I think DX and Si use the same axels and HF STD use the same axels, There was a big argument on the forums about this a while back.

Cool, However,

I was refering to the clutch, tranny input shaft splines, not the axels.

I know that the HF had smaller axels, common deal in most forums about motor swaps.
Didnt know that STD did too, sounds about right.

Thanks

idk if you completed this swap or not. but i did the exact same swap, a b7 into my hatch but i still kept the dpfi. the intake mani, dist will all bolt right up no problem. you need to swap over your coolant temp switch because the b7 has it on the thermostat housing. because of your tranny you need to keep the stock clutch, also swap over your 88 flywheel too. the b7 is just like the stock motor, just look at your stock motor then look at the b7 if its missing any parts, just swap them over

the 88 tranny is 21 splines.
89-91 is 20 splines.

Yes, ALL 88's (HF, DX, Si) had the 21 spline clutch, and ALL 89-91 had the 20 spline clutch.

Cool sounds good to me!

How bout this one:

Does anyone know what is different with the 92-95 upper-a arm?
I may need to change the ball joint and I want to put a camber kit but do not like the ingalls style.
I want to use a Skunk2 style with the replacement upper-a arm and movable ball joint.
It would kill two birds with one stone...
