sexy 90 gts - tranny, quick question...

my lil bro has a hot 90 gts celica baby blue, i love it but it's been sitting around for a couple years because it needs a transmission. I'm looking into getting one for christmas for him but I need details. in one table I found it says that the gts(auto) has a 1.8 liter with transmission # A241E and the ST came with A241L. is there a difference in these trannies? I'm looking into a 92 st tranny right now. Will a 92- swap straight across? Any help is appreciated!

there was no 1.8 liter motor for that year celica it was only 2.2 and 1.6 and 2.0... did he swap in a 6th gen 7afe into it 1.8 liter but from years 94-99

no he never did a conversion.. my fault. pretty sure that the engine is a 2.2 because it says 2200 on the engine... does anyone know whether the tranny that comes with this engine is interchangable with a tranny that comes with a 92 1.8L engine(4AFE)?

its not, the ribs on the tranney are different... no reason to do that neway cuz the 1.8 isnt as strong as a tranney go with a 5sfe one or an 93+ mr2 3sgte tranney (comes with lsd)

LSD was an option on 93+ MR2s, not a standard item.

so what years and models can I get a 5sfe from? Is it a direct swap? is the mr2 93+ also a direct swap? hey thanks for your input guys I probably would have bought that tranny and found out later it is 'nt a swap!
