Remote start installation problems on a 2005 Tacoma

I took my 05 toy to a stereo shop to install a remote start and they can't seem to bypass the engine immobilizing system in the ignition. In other words, the truck won't start remotely unless the key is actually in the ignition (most vehicles or every other vehicle as the installation tech says just requires the key to be near the ignition to activate the chip). Has anyone installed a remote start on their 05 and if so could you give me the details on what equipment was used?
