Just idle's .2000 Silverado

I just bought this truck and when I start it it just idle's. It can be cold or hot but there is no step up. The throttle works ok but to start it I have to push on the gas pedal a little or she starts hard. Also the gas gauge reads all over the place and I see from other letters it's in the tank but some times when it;s reading right and I turn on the headlights it goes down to empty. Could it be a bad ground.

There is no adjustment for the idle on your vehicle. try cleaning the throttle body with some quality cleaner and a soft tooth brush.
As far as the fuel guage goes, I have seen a lot of bad senders, but none with what you describe.
Quite possibly you could have a bad ground.

Does your truck have the fly by wire throttle or the electronic throttle? If it's a wire, there is an adjustment you can make with the idle screw. You can do some adjusting to it, then unhook your idle position sensor, turn the key on for 10sec so the computer will relearn the idle location, turn off the key, plug it back up, then it will reset the idle in that position to 0.
