last night me and some friends were doing a few practice runs around the block where we race. the runs were going good and we decided to call it a night around 5am.
I wanted to get one more run in my 92 probe gt and see if I could get the fastest run of the night.
so right after the first turn I decideed to really open it up. so I mashed the pedal and slid the car around the next two turn real nice, it was as close to a drift as you can get in a fwd(in other words a really smooth and controlled power slide) so I got a little excited and decided to take the last turn a little faster. before I got to the turn I hit the hand break and got the ass out it was all going smooth and I was going to make it.
All of a sudden POP! I knew almost instantly it was a tire before I could straighten my front wheels and hit the gas the ass end was way to far out so I did what any hardcore street racer does in a situation like this
I let go of the steering wheel grabbed my hair and and cried out a high pitch girlish scream. Just kidding. I chose a clear path and tapped the gas untill i got traction but it was to late by the time iI had gotten traction to the front wheels I was already going into a spin. the rear end went over the curb popping the other rear tire and the side of the rear bumper hooked one of those yellow poles that stick out of the sidewalk and keep cars from going into buildings well it slowed the spin enough for me to get controll and I drove out of the corner.
when we checked the car the rear bumper had pretty much been peeled right off leaving most of its mounts attached to the car. it had slingshoted itself all the way accross the street from the pole.
when i checked what was left of my rear tires I could see that something had ripped into the sidewall of my tire and the other one had slid halfway off the wheel.
we never did find what punctured my tire whatever it was left a 1 3/4 inch hole in my sidewall. the bumper is trash now. but lucky for me I didn't damage the fender or tail light.
so now the car sits on new tires in my garage waiting for me to replace the rear bumper with the one from my parts car and take it to the races this weekend.
I was thinking about getting a body kit for it but considering almost all of the body panels have been damaged and replaced due to racing, I think im gonna wait on that. Its also why the parts cars I get are allways black so I dont have to pay for paint.

you know, I hate to say it, but what the hell do you expect, drifting on residential streets? You're lucky you didn't go through a garage.
You may want to check the wrx vs. house thread:

and rethink exactly what you are doing.

I've done some pretty dumb things myself, but honestly, I think that has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of anyone doing. I hope you don't try something like that ever again. :disappoin
As for you getting a body kit, I'd say forget about it. Put the money into your engine. It's plenty more worth it than a body kit. Just remember, be safe and don't do something like this again. Late...

ouch.. I'd be fearful of someone calling the cops and hitting someone. I power slid it once with the new motor, 2nd gear going 10 tapped the gas through a corner. I glanced up ahead and saw a state po and almost shat myself.

Powersliding around residental streets is so RICE. Save it for need for speed or 2F2F or something.
Don't get the point of the story either. Might as well have posted it in the "need new tire" forum.
Powersliding is rice. If you wanna race where you're in control of your car, go ahead. But if you wanna go around residental streets full throttle and then just pull your e-brake, where anything can happen, then you shouldn't have a license. Because of stupid shit like that...never mind, I don't even wanna talk about it.

68 Chargers are RWD, and they make limited body parts for them.
This guy's last two posts :bs: if true is the reason those of us have problems with the law, and a good reason people like this need to take drivers ed. If they want to race, there's a time and place.
This isn't cool one bit. To race around the block where you can't see around the corner and what or who you'll hit is beyond stupid.

Powersliding in his FWD around a block where there might be people.
Sounds like something a 14 year old would want to do. It's a 92 probe Gt, does that sound like something you'd want to race around a block using your e-brake?
Is he a "professional drifter"? Are you one of those guys who sees a video online and thinks that you can do it just like those people around a track? Can you control a car, or do you think he can control a car the way he wants it to by braking with his e-brake around corners? He freakin blew his tire, he's lucky the car didn't flip. Does that sound safe? Sure, it's an adrenaline rush...if you're 14 years old.
Too many times do I see topics like "bent rim, need help" and in the body of the message the guy talks about how he used the e-brake to get his stock civic around an intersection and hit a curb.
Go play some Need for speed underground or something. I'm glad I don't live around Highrev or the other guy.
I'm glad there are cops out there preventing this type of BS and get you kids off the streets. Hgihrev and Kanibal, repeat after me "Need for speed underground is a game. I shall not risk mine and other peoples lives by racing an underpowered FWD car and using my e-brake to brake around corners. Need for speed is just a game"

this took place in an area where there are no people or houses the only things there are a couple scrap yards and an abandoned factory.I think they made cheese there. as for using the e-brake to slide, I was just screwing around with the car. think of it as testing it's limitations and behavior in a situation where traction is lost during a race. not preparing for this kind of situation would be far more dangerous than doing it in a fairly safe enviornment. If it does happen during a race I would at least have some control, instead of panicing slamming the brakes and sliding into the other driver or spectators.
as far as me owning a 68 charger and a probe. didn't realize there was some unwritten rule saying you only get to have one car in your garage, if thats the case than im in big trouble, I have two probes(one for parts) and the charger. Now you dont expect me to go out and race my 68 charger on the streets do you?
now a stock probe gt is underpowered for this kind of thing. but I am not running in a stock probe. the suspensions on these cars were very good stock. mine has thicker swaybars ground control coilovers with adjustable struts, bushings. hyedracyl front brake kit 12.2 slotted rotors four piston calipers, slotted rotors performance pads in the rear stock calipers, well it's gonna take me forever to list everything so i'll try and make it quick jspec fe3 swap, stock turbo, coated pistons, rods, lifters, ect. fuelpump, ecu, injectors, distributor, plugs, wires, coil, clutch kit, aluminum flywheel, custom exhaust, hollow cat, short shifter, sparco seats, harness, 4 pt cage. front rear tower bars, wheels, tires, around 250bhp 270ft/lbs torque at 13psi 8,8:1 compression, and so on and so forth.I know I forgot a bunch of stuff, but this isn't about my car. what I dont understand is how I get critisized for this and everyone talking about the race they had on the freeway in the middle of the day gets told "good win" because they beat some ricer who was tailing them or reved there engine at a stoplight. now If you ask me that sounds like endangering the lives of other peds.
know that I am not pissed off or anything, just think you should consider looking at the thread block racers? to get a better understanding of how I like to do things.
This wasn't my first crash and im pretty sure it wont be the last, but hey it's all part of racing and should be expected.

It's not impossible to drift a fwd car. It's just close to impossible. I wouldn't even call what I was doing drifting. It was definatly more of a powerslide, there was no way I could have connected more than one of these slides together. I was just sliding the car sideways while trying to keep the car straight and pointed in the derection of the road after the turn while not sliding into the outside curb.
Now I don't really know too much about drifting but im pretty sure this was not drifting.

I've never done a drift in my life. You're talking about preparing for a block race with spectators and stuff. I hope no one gets hurt doing that. I am not a fan of organized street races anyway; never been and never will. If a "safe" race finds me, I'll go. If not, I do what other people do...drive.

Hmm funny, I have never attempted to drift my car (which is RWD) I have also driven FWD cars and have never attempted a powerslide. I refuse to race on a street with traffic, and I never have "block raced." However somehow you associated my defense for him as if I was some kind of ricer. It's ok, you look like a mature racer to the thousands of people on here you will never meet. Congrats.
I also dont own Need for Speed, I believe my last racing game I played was a Nascar game for PS1 at my freinds house, and before that It was probally a Cart racing game I had for Sega.
Judgemental are we? Well maybe you should get the facts strait before you come on here jumping down people's throats like a lil bitch. This kid was doing this on a street in which He mentioned that nobody is around, no other cars, no pedestrians, and he even has people who watch out for him. In the other thread everyone was like thats a good idea, except for a few. Now in this thread it is the popular thing to do to jump at him, well have fun with it.
As to the thread starter, If you dont own this car after all my defense, Im going to hunt you down. As for the "block racing", keep it safe, and watch what your doing. Do I think this fun would be better set a a track? Sure, but if your going to still do it my only hope is you keep safe.

Hmm, maybe my statement came off the wrong way...
Just to start, I'm not doubting your cars...I don't see how that has any relevance to the story anyway.
Now let me rephrase, first off, I'm sorry for assuming you were on residential streets. I had read your other post a few days ago, and for some reason had thought that this was on residential streets...I remembered you saying that you had blocked off the block...but I still thought I remembered something about mailboxes...so I thought residential. Sorry, my mistake.
What I meant with my post was that you were drifting/powersliding...whatever, on a normal road. Not the brightest thing to do...personally, if I ever had the desire to use my e-brake, I'd use it in a empty parking lot..maybe that is just me.
Secondly, I never talked down to you about safety or risking people's lives. You are absolutely right, I race on the street etc, there are other cars sometimes. whatever, racing has it's inherant dangers...this is a street racing forum, so obviously the primary focus isn't racing safely on a track. Fine.
Everyone has done stupid stuff in their car...I'm no exception. My point was that 3 mailboxes, a brick wall, and 2 telephone polls have been hit on my street in the last 9 months due to teenagers drifting/powersliding into the turns. They have done damage to property and to their cars...all of them assume to be in complete control of their cars until they lose a bumper and shatter their windshields, flip their cars, or end up in a ditch.
I'm not passing judgment on you, and I don't know how skilled of a driver you are...however, you said you were "testing it's limitations", which leads me to believe that you aren't fully aware of it's limitations...which further leads me to believe you havn't practiced this before in empty parking lots.
Whatever, all that aside. My point is this:
You were engaging in a semi-'reckless' activity, in which you lost control of your car and ripped off your bumper...and then you posted it on here...what do you want a cookie or something?
I congratulate people on a race that they win, dangerous or not, they know the inherant dangers of racing, they took thier chances and won. Similarly, you knew the inherant dangers of your actions...and you crashed...you did not emerge victorious... Obviously, I'm sorry to hear that, and am glad you are ok. But no congratulations are in order...so I ask again...exactly what kind of responses did you expect from a post like that?

Highrev, it's not even worth respondin to your post because I don't see what point you're trying to make.
Just because you see japanese RACERS, DRIFTING, in their SKYLINES on TRACKS, doesn't mean people should do it on the street.
First of, he owns a Ford Probe, which is FWD. Second, he wasn't on a track where he could do it without crashing into a building. Third, Japanese professions KNOW what they're doing. I can't believe you're comparing a Professional racer in a skyline on a track to some teenager in a FWD ford probe who races around the building using his E-brake. Sorry, I didn't read what he crashed into, but I'm sure it was one of the buildings. Are those buildings his personal property? Even if they're abandoned, they're not his.
So now tell me, what point are you trying to make? Crashing his car was a good idea? It really seems to me like you do play too many video games. Bring a point across.
Does someone need to get killed for you to see how bad of an idea this was?

I tend to believe him, sounds like he knows what he is talking about. And I usually say BS to everything.
then he can make me look bad by posting pictures.
Fact is that his higly organised street racing based on some special invitations for "cool kids" as he put it sounds very very fake, including his suposed intentions of hiring a "security force" to police it.

Im mr. safety
First off (removed by HighRev), You have on numerous occasions shared stories with us of street racing...Hmm Not track racing, you were on a street. Although there are speed laws posted, you though of yourself as above the law and raced anyway. Remember often, professional racers crash, however you, an amateur, though you were good enough of a driver to take to the street race. At any point you could have lost control of your car (alot easier then one thinks) and hit anything, a baracade, anouther car, hell even if no one else was hurt or nothing damaged, you yourself could have been hurt.
Am I condeming street racing? No... I too take part in the same activity. However, I dont judge others for doing it.
Do you think those "proffesional drifters of japan" in thier "skylines" started off on a track? (which by the way not all drift cars are skylines, and although Japan leads the sport, they are not the only pros). Hmm I think Im going to become a drifter, let me mod my car, add a roll cage, and not try anything before hitting the track? No... I am not saying what this kid did was right, I am merely saying that he did what he did, and it happened. Why attack him? I also dont see the point of him posting this here. In face he should have named the thread "I fucked up." But thats besides the point. Also not everyone owns thier dream car. I doubt, especially with what he does with his car, that his Probe is thought of as the be all end all of sports cars. However, he has fun with what he has, and as long as he does it in safety who cares...
Oh and btw I lied, I have played a video game more recently. I have been playing topshift.com in order to play with fellow AF members. And it has thought me to sell my mustang, buy a probe and slide with my e-brake. I should sue them.

Well, technically it's a computer game. Video Games you can actually see what's going on hence "video". More of a computer strategy game. That's my :2cents: . And I agree, you should sue them. I was taught that that car alarms don't mean shit. Anyone can steal your car when you least expect it, take thousands of $'s worth of performance parts, and all for only minimal credits. Damn them. I'm going down to the bank to get some credits. late...

First of, get a straight jacket. You don't seem to be able to control your anger issues very well :shakehead Ever thought of anger managment classes?
Good to know that you use the quotation feature to put words in peoples' mouths which they haven't said.
Anyway, yes of course I've raced just like everyone else here has. It's one thing to go straight where 98% of the time you're in control of the car, but it's a different thing to use an e-brake to "drift" a fwd car around corners like professionals do.
It doesn't take much to race in a straight line. You have to be a total retard not to be able to control a car in a straight line (unless you have too much power, which you don't). Since you made yourself look like a total fool already and don't know what to say by taking the kids side, you're comparing a straight line race to someone using an e-brake as his brake to powerslide around buildings. You're every desparate.
I know you just got your car and are still very young and all, so I'm sure you'll learn more about cars and how dangerous they can be if you do stupid shit like he does. You'll learn son, you'll learn.
But before that, tell you parents to get you into some anger management classes.

I'e been racing over 50 years and have only had 2 presonal friends killed on the track, but many bit the dust on the roads (streets).
3 months ago where I live we race every Sunday on a lonely strech of road 6 miles out of town. Between 100-200 kids show-up to watch the races and some take part in them. I was in the 3rd row back with a 3000GT waiting our turn at it. On the front row was 2 pickup's that had just lanched. Seconds later going about 90-100MPH a car pulled out in front of them, result's, 3 dead, all in the name of having fun, which it is, but extreamly dangerious. My biggest fear is someday this could happen to me only worse. My car turns the 1/4 in low 10's@144 and I'd never be able to stop it at that speed or blew a tire and ran into the crowd it would be a disaster to say the least. My Sunday racing is finished but if we meet at a stop sign give it your best or I'll hand you yer lunch.

ok first of all It was a powerslide all I did was use the e-brake to start the slide and let the weight in the rear carry it through It's not like I had the e-brake on the whole time.
and I will admit I was pretty much just showing off and it was a pretty stupid mistake.
it was all about having fun with the car, I knew the risks and was willing to take them. Even if the car was seriously damaged getting another one isn't a real big problem. It's a 1st gen ford probe they can be found for dirt cheap.
performance parts aren't expensive hell the j spec engine with install costs less than two grand and that was one of the more expensive things in the car.
this car is not my pride and joy, its just somthing I can have fun with and if I break it it's no big deal.
the only thing I have to worry about is saftey and my arrest record. now I feel ive done all that I can to keep things as safe as possible without actually going to the track.
remeber this was not anywhere near a residential area. and I dont race at stoplights just cuz the guy next to me revs his engine.
a few years back some 9 year old girl was killed when her minivan was hit by two street racers in a residential area. she flew out and the van rolled over her. which is why I do my best to keep it safe.
and neutrino you took that last post way too seriously
there are no invitations.
but your still not invited.(more sarcasm)

im sure it's not impossible.
I just haven't found a way around the problem.
I'm sure if I took my computer to get wiped cleaned and reprogramed it would solve this problem.
but the only problem is I can't post pics. I can live with that, everything else seems to be working fine.
until my computer breaks and I have to take it in, Im not gonna rush it down there just cuz some jerk takes his finger out of his butt, points it at me, and tells me im a liar.
so let it go, cuz its getting old.

I dont know why I cant upload pics. if I could I would but I can't. so believe it, dont believe it, it doesn't matter it's your opinion.

This thread is not longer worth my effort. The kid I was trying to defend obviously is making everything up, and others dont get the fact that even though I am trying to defend someone else's stupidity, I am not one to do something like that.
As to TypeS, I am sorry If I came off very harsh, which I did, I have always read and respected your posts/race stories. I just get angry when someone assumes I dont know what im doing in MY car when im defending SOMEONE ELSE's mistake.

Now realise this: your credibility is about as shaky as it can get in this moment. So stop throwing the f-word around and especially don't start insulting the other members!!!

so untill I can provide proof. lets just let the thread die.
my mistake for starting a thread with no evidence to back it up.
so untill I can upload pics I just wont start any threads about the races.
but honestly who lies about owning a ford probe, most kids would say they own a civic or a 240.
sorry for droppin the F bomb so many times. its easy to forget about the kids that might come in here.
