Alright guys, I dont know too much about cars, just the basics so let me try to explain.
I have a 2000 Grand Prix SE with roughly 103,000 miles or so(V6 3800) I notice when I step on the gas, and when the RPMs reach 2(or 2000 whatever), the car begins to sputter alot and the 'needle' on the RPMs goes back and forth from 2 to 3, back to 2 to 3. Then once I reach about 60 Miles Per Hour, the car runs fine without any sputtering.
So to make this easier for ya....when i first step on the gas, the car sputters until I reach about 60 MPH. However, if i step on the gas pretty hard, it'll accelerate immediately without problems.... But when I slowly step on the gas, thats when it sputters. And when I say Sputter, I mean it jerks (if thats the right word to use)
Whats wrong???? Help a guy out!!!

same thing is happening with my 99 grand prix,, i have already changed the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter and cleaned the injectors and still the problem is there,, wondering if it could be throttle control sensors or the coils?? any suggestions would be appreciated,,

My 97 GP GTP did same thing. If found out it was a COMPUTER SENSOR that was located next to & around the HARMONIC BALANCER which gave timing and fuel information to the engine. When this sensor is out, the timing is all messed up and your car will sputter and your TACHOMETER will move like it is possessed. The sensor is not too expensive and the job is easy to do if you have a harmonic balancer puller.
Hope this is all that it is.

the sensor is called the crankshaft position sensor,
and if you don't have access to air tools then the job can be tough. if this is the problem be sure to lube the shaft with anti sieze lube and put the red losk-tight back on the center HB bolt.

I have 2 98 GTP's My black one with 130k miles. It was doing the exact thing you are describing. Well I changed the coils, spark plugs, fuel filter, tranny oil and filter. Well several hours away from home, I was driving and the rpm's went up but I was slowing down. Transmission went out. Here is a thread that explains more.
