I'm looking at getting a 2001 A6 2.7T. Does anyone have any input as far as Pros and Cons of having a turbo. I've never owned one, I've read some scary reports here and there. How about annual maintenance for a A6 2.7T. I'm torn between the Audi A6 2.7T and the '01-'02 BMW 330Xi. Any help is appreciated.

For one, the A6 is a much larger car than the BMW, so it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Anyway, there aren't too many downsides to having a turbo'd car, they are really fun to drive. One thing you will have to be careful of is to make sure you warm up the car well before you accelerate hard and when you go to turn off the engine, let the car idle for a minute or just drive really easy for the last few minutes before you turn off the engine. This will allow fresh oil to get into the turbo and cool it off a little bit. Turbos are almost mini jet engines and can get very hot, so they need proper maintenance. Other than that, there's not much difference from any other luxury car that I can think of. I'm sure someone else who has an A6 will post up more info.

my mom has a a6 2.7t and we don't like it. ive been driving it for the last couple months and ive got to know that car pretty good. i LOVE the all wheel drive. the turbo lag is horrible tho. i hear it can be fixed with a diff torque converter but we leased the car. we are getting rid of the car next month and will be getting a gp gtp for me. there has been quite a few small problems. the body trim has got loose and almost fell off twice. we take very good care of our cars. we dont even have any dents or scratches in the car after almost four years. once the turbo gets going its great tho. would be an awesome car if it was a manual and u could rev it alot.
