Ok so when my VR4 motor blows i'm thinking of puting an sl motor with new turbos in. What do i have to do to get the sl moror tt? Would my intake maniforld of my vr4 fit on an sl? Do i have to change the pistons? what do i got to do to the sl motor?

Why would you want your engine to blow in the first place..? That could lead to more damage in other area's. Why dont you just sell your engine now, take the money you get from your engine and buy a new one.

If I'm not mistaking, I believe SL motors have a 10:1 compression ratio, and Vr-4's have an 8:1 ratio. You may experience more knock with the SL motor as opposed to the VR-4 motor depending on how much boost you wish to run. Also the the front motor mount bracket on N/A motors has to be changed to make way for the front turbo. You'd also have to swap exhaust manifolds, the oil housing, water housing, and oil pan. I think your VR-4 intake manifold would fit the SL motor. You may already know this stuff, but in case you don't, I hope I've helped a little bit.

Why would you want your motor to blow...and why would you want to tt an NA engine instead of just dropping in a new vr4 engine?

I sorta want to do the same thing. I have a normal SL and I'd like to put turbo in it. But my only problem is that I have an automatic, and 3s are so very rare here that I had to take this one when I found it. I'm no automotive genius, but is it extremely harmful to the engine to turbo an auto?

There are a few guys who have TT'ed auto's. The big advantage is brake boosting. A major drawback is you cant use the TT ECU because it cant control th eauto tranny.

hmm,I understood all of that except the ecu, how does that effect the TT?

Well its been dyno proven that a TT ecu will give you 50hp. It has something to do with the fact the NA ecu cant compensate for positive crankcase pressure. Its a bigtime advantage ruuning the TT ecu. Another thing is the TT ECu is already set up for 360cc injectors. If you dont run the TT ecu you have to run some kind of AFC to control the injectors.

so I wont be able to use the TT ECU, but I can turbo my auto? and how much HP do you think it'll add?

If you use stock 9b turbos you can look at around 40-50hp at the wheels, best guess, maybe more. If you turbo your auto you are also stuck usin the 10:1 block. If you want to use lower compression pistons they have to be swapped out.
