Ok well i'm 16 years old this is the first car ive ever owned. It's a 1984 Chevy s-10 2wd short cab 6 cylander. The cool thing is its got the stock engine with only 90k miles on it, and whole new brakes and it only cost me $1000. so anyway im looking to make it look a little nicer, its sort a beater right now. And because im not car savy i was looking for some advice on a few things. these are:
1) id like a new exaughst that will boost the HP and sound nice at the same time.
2) where can i find a body kit for this thing? i dont want it to look stupid like some of the honda civics you see but just something to jazz it up.
3) What is a good Tire size to put on that makes it noticable but isn't over doing i was thinking 18-20''? any suggestions?
4) the only think i would be carrying in the back is Band Equipment and my BMX bike so would a bed rug or bed liner. i hear good things about the spray stuff
5) is it possible to cut a hole out of the botton of the door and put in extra speakers?
6) and lastly any ideas for engine mods? i dont want to race it but it would be cool if it just had better pick up.
I know this is a lot so thank you ahead of time. I hope i can start to actually lean some stuff about cars. Thanks again - Taylor

-Engine mods: I would go with a new air filter and intake system. Past that, most things take a lot of know how, time, and money to get real power from. Just don't get any product that boasts "instant hp with this easy bolt on."
-Bed liner: What does the truck have in it and what condition is the bed in (any rust)? If not much or no rust then get a spray on bed liner. If it is rusty from being open or a plastic bed liner then keep what you have or buy a rubber matt if the bed is open.
-Exhaust: Go with a good name brand aftermarket, like Flow Master or Borla. Its worth the money if you plan to keep the truck for a long time. If you don't have the money for that you may have to settle for the stock. A glass packed is not recommended due to their lack of quality but some will argue about that.

body kits: e bay, great prices and lots to chose from
exhaust: some flowmater 40 searies will do nicely
tire size: ive got a 98 s 10 and the absolute largest i can go w/o a c notch is 20", ide say if you want flashy go with 20's provided they fit, 17;s if you dont, either way go to e bay again great prices and lots to chose from,
Bed liner: if you can sand, and its only surfice rust sand really good and go with a spray on bed liner, i love mine, if to much rust go with a bed mat or a plastic bedliner
Door speakers: yes its possible, but know what your doing and back spacings, you need special spacers to put the speakers in, its a lot of work to do it, your best off with 8's or 10's behind the seat, if you dont have the spacers your window will hit the speaker as it rolls down
Engin mods: new exhaust (youve already got that part covered) and intake, remember you just got your licence so dont go overboard, i started to and then smashed my full size the first winter i had it, so wait till spring time to put your money into it i am on my new s 10, but to mod the engin to a high or good preformence you will dump 1500 to 2000 to get a good mid range preformer out of it, go with a v 8 when you get the money
