I have seen allot of post but don’t seem to see an answer to my trouble, so here it is. I have a 2002 F150 4X4 with a 5.7 and all stock. The truck will crank but not start. It will do this at random if the truck sits it will then start. I have had it to three dealers in to cities and here is what was done.
1st dealer told me it was the battery (even after I told them that it would crank and not start) they keep the truck for 4 days and it would always start for them. They ran the battery dead and recharged it? (This is a 900CA new battery I replaced 2 months ago) Got the truck back and within 2 days once agene will crank but not start. I took the truck and all paper work back to the dealer with the sane results. Very dissatisfied I took it to a new dealer in a town 200 miles away, Showed the all the paperwork and explained to the the problem. They checked out the truck and told me the fuel pressure was a little low and the codes where from this. Replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Truck ran great for 1 month and here we go agene? Does anyone have any suggestions? I have not change the relay yet, this was the next thing.
Thanks

sounds like there is a loose wire or connection somewhere in the ignition circuit. when it wont start, wiggle a related wire and see if it will start. wiggle another and check again etc........ if it starts troubleshoot that wire!

The first thing to do is get yourself a can of starting fluid. Next time it does this, spray some starting fluid into the intake and re-try it. If it starts then, your problem is fuel, if it does not start, it's ignition and very likely the cranks sensor is bad.
Does your tach move when you are cranking it and it's not running when this happens?

did you put gas in the tank, and using the key and a charged battery might help

Next time it dies, use some wd-40 instead of starting fluid, because it will lubricate not dry the top end. Also when it dies, try pushing the fuel pressure test valve in, it will look like a tire valve, push it in with the key on and see if you have pressure. Now a crank position sensor would show these type of symptoms.

I am asuming that you are talking about a diesel? I have a gas engine and dont know where the vavle is.
