F1 GTR racing preparation

Does anyone know of any racing preparation companies in the UK or europe who prepare F1 GTR's for vintage racing events? Do you know of any company websites that I can take a look at?

I'm not aware of any specific ones. Maybe someone from that region of the world will be able to help you out. I can tell you that most of the GTRs do not come out to play all that often. There have been a few at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the years, but it wouldn't surprise me if McLaren themselves were the ones involved with the prep work for those events given the location.

Nick Mason, the Pink Floyd drummer, has GTR #10R which was converted for road use by the factory, but his cars are catered to by someone directly involved with his www.tentenths.co.uk business as I understand.

The only other GTR that seems to get out all that often is #11R which is owned by Tom Meissner of Sweden, but that car appears to have been modified for road use and might not be treated like most old race cars. I know in most cases those cars are stored dry, but his seems to see far too much use to constantly be mothballing it and then bringing it back to life.

There is one longtail GTR here in the USA (#19R) that is maintained by Hudson Historics. They have a shot of the car on their website - I believe they took the car to Daytona for a historic event.

Remember that there was a picture on Faisal's site of a FINA Longtail at the old McLaren Cars shop. I'm guessing they do most of the prep/fabrication needed.

Just an added point I thought I would make.

Since the McLaren Customer Care team/program exists, I think that most owners prefer to have the work done on their F1s directly by McLaren. I have an article on the program from RacingLine magazine and Harold Dermott is quoted as saying something like "Customers want the car to be perfect." Since that's what they (MCC) are the best at doing, it makes sense to give them the job.

It is not as if money is an issue for most McLaren F1 owners, and surely even for the customers who might not be as passionate about the car as I think they should be, the F1 is probably still a very prized possession.

I remember watching a TV interview with the accountant guy that defrauded his company of millions so he could race his F1GTR. On the interview, which I believe actually flagged-up to his bosses how a guy on accountant's wages could aford to own and race GTR's, he said he was shocked at the lack of after care and disinterest that McLaren showed to it's GTR customers!!!

Same here. I figured SOMEONE would say something, even if to say that it has already been posted before. By the way, I don't know how I came across it. I think I might have done a search of the site itself.
