clutch question

is it possible for the linkage between your clutch and the clutch pedal to separate. i went out to start my car this morning and my clutch pedal just flopped around on me. it worked just fine for me yesterday when i parked it. i can still see the linkage going into the firewall but is it possible for it to have separated inside the clutch housing. please shoot me any suggestions. thanks

I’m not sure about your car but i have had this problem with my RX-7.
MY rx has a hydraulic clutch and if it ether has a leak and looses the fluid it will do that or i once had the problem that my slave cylinder broke loose of the trany and made it have a floppy clutch pedal.

First of all can you tell us which car it occured on? and if ever you have changed the clutch fluid.

Its possible for a linkage between either the pedal and master cylinder to fail, or the slave clyinder and the clutch fork to fail. and its also possible for either the master or slave cylinder or even both to fail.

it is on my 92 accord (f22a6), and no i havent ever changed the fluid. let me know if there is anything else you need to know

I'm thinking the slave cylinder went out. Theres just no pressure in the lines, therefore the pedal just flops up and down

ive worked on or changed just about everything else on my car. but i have never worked on my clutch , and i dont know too much about it. is the slave cylinder something that is easy to fix and is it something that is expensive to fix? thanks
