Ok my buddy bought his 89 camaro about 3 months ago.It has a 305 in it
and the first time i looked under the hood i realized that his car seems to be carburated. This then made me wonder if it was the original engine or not because from what ive been told 1985 was the last year the camaro was carburated. Ive looked in a few reference manuals at the fuel injected models The TBI engines and this engine look nothing close to what an 89 305 should look like. The car also seems to be unusually fast for a stock 305 the one time i took it out i had it from 0-80 in what seemed like a matter of seconds. Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas as to what it may be?

did you remove the air lid to see if it was carbed, by 89 it should be a throttle body injection engine, it looks just like a carb but with two big injectors over the barrels

take the air cleaner off and look to see if it has wires going to what you think may be a carburetor. if it does have wires, it's throttle body injection. if it doesn't, chances are someone has replaced the throttle body with a carburetor

yeah thats TBI. My 89 Chevy C1500 has the EXACT same throttle body as that one (just not as clean  ) The two cylinder things in the middle upper top are the injectors. If you take off the air filter and start it up you can see them spraying fuel onto the throttle valves. Anyways, my 89 chevy has the exact same system so I wouldn't doubt that the Camaro is an 89.
