What kind of tires does everyone like and why? What's good for mileage, performance or both? :2cents:

Profile:

- The thinner and broader, look is better? Better response in racing, harder driving. Have to work on grooved roads - to drive straight.
- The higher and narrower, more leisure, better wet/snow traction. Sundaydriving, easier on long trips. (my selection: try telling this in a shop and they'll laugh you out...)

Rubber mix:

- The harder, the longer it lasts. Soft - better traction.

Grooves:

- the bigger pattern, the better snow&water is thrown off and traction is better. On dry asphalt the opposite.

Tires make half of the car handling.

michelin pilots are IMO the best tires right now but are really expensive. there are continentals, pirelli p-zero (which is what i'm going with), falken 512's. check out tirerack.com

I love my pilots. They are very expensive, but worth every penny. The Pirelli P-zero's are good too, as BP mentioned. Coninental ConteExtremeContact are also good tires, but I'm not sure if they're available yet for Maximas.

I liked my Falken Ziex 512s and the Azenis 115s. They weren't really expensive and Both grip well. Though the ZIex are better for the snow.

i've got BF Goodrich Traction T/As....nice tires...good grip...but i think these are really good tires for people who dont have a lot of money (kind of like me...lol)

I just put Toyo TPT's on mine (we have snow up here) and they are great! if you're gettin tires, do the research first and just save. Different tires for different folks, ya know?

Toyo Proxes 4.

A relatively new tire out there but supposedly an excellent all-round tire for wet, dry and even snow.

Sounds like the end all be all tire. I probably would've taken a long hard look at these had I not gotten my Kumhos.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS's are probably the best, but pretty pricey. \

The best tire for the price I would have to say are the Falken 512's They come highly recomeneded by most maxima drivers. But honestly, anything is better than the re92 Potenzas (craptenzas, deathtenzas, asstenzas, etc).

I have Bridgestone Turanza LSV's

The end all, be all of summer tires, IMO (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+F1+GS-D3)

i recently went and got some tires, i was gonna get the pirelli's but i decided i'd pay a little more for some better tires. i got the Nokian WR A.W.P. (http://www.nokiantires.com/newsite/tires_popup.cfm?id=6) in 235/45/WR17. they're awesome. we got a pretty bad sleet/snow storm and the roads were shitty but i could maintain the speed limit comfortably.

Looks like a nice tread. How'd you come accross this brand. (usually, people stick with the bigger names, i.e. goodyear, BF goodrich, Bridgestone, Michelin, etc.). How does the road feel on those?

i asked the guy in the tire place what he had in 235/45-17 and looked at all the tires and they looked good to me. When i asked about them, he recommended them highly. the ride's nice and smooth and quiet too. i'm coming from low profile 235/35-19's so it feels 10x more comfy to me. it's a world of difference between these and the oem potenza's with dry, wet or snowy traction.
